We are looking for a Principal Adviser - Opportunity Generation to work in the Rio Tinto Ventures team, identifying opportunities and strategies for value accretive growth.
The role is based in Rio Tinto offices in London, UK.
Rio Tinto Ventures is an exciting innovation happening at Rio Tinto which aims to deliver shareholder value by focusing on smaller-scale investments in commodities and types of orebodies that may disproportionately benefit from megatrends-driven discontinuities in supply, demand or value chain structure. Led by the Energy & Minerals Product Group in collaboration with Corporate Development and Growth & Innovation, the aim is to capture value beyond Rio Tinto's core portfolio, by investing in advanced stage projects and operating assets in commodities that will create value.
It is an exciting concept which aims to utilise a number of Rio Tinto's unique capabilities in exploration, operations & engineering and sales & marketing. We are now seeking to recruit a small number of roles to form the basis of a highly competent, core team of professionals in order to generate ideas, screen and evaluate opportunities and devise appropriate entry strategies.
This role is a great opportunity to identify specific targets for screening, conducting commercial screening and evaluation and working closely with the technical team to evaluate opportunities.
Working and reporting to the Chief Adviser, you will be:
Identifying specific targets for screening, conducting commercial screening and evaluation and working closely with the technical team to evaluate opportunities Building financial models to support opportunity generation and business case development Identifying entry strategies for selected opportunities, including finance and marketing considerations Supporting senior management in negotiating and executing opportunities Supporting development of investment committee proposals Analysing business implications of current and proposed strategic decisions
To succeed in this role, you will have:
An Academic Qualification; Finance or Engineering degree beneficial Financial and financial modelling experience Business case development experience Experience in negotiating and executing opportunities
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Post graduate degree or Master's degree Certificate or Financial Accounting or other Accountancy/ financial qualification A background in Investment Banking/Private Equity Cross Commodity experience
