Technology teams at CME write and maintain ultra-low-latency electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, and front-end trading interfaces, all of which are central to CME's business. CME's Technology Summer Internship program offers students opportunities to learn more about CME's business, our role in the financial industry, and the types of technology that keeps our markets running. Students will develop both their technical skills and expand their network with access to industry experts, while working alongside other talented and ambitious students with a passion for FinTech.
The System Engineering Intern will be responsible for implementing automated detection methods to scan for sensitive data across Windows file shares, Confluence, and Sharepoint, reviewing of the findings, identification of file ownership, classification of findings according to the CME Data Classification Policy, recommending appropriate permission changes or appropriate disposition of that data, coordination of execution of those recommendations, and generation of metrics to provide insight into progress achieved. The intern will be required to document any new processes or procedures developed during this engagement.
The System Engineering Intern should be working towards a degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or Information Security. Should be familiar with MS Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Windows powershell scripting is a plus but not required. Should have strong communication and organizational skills as identification of findings and remediation coordination will require collaboration across multiple teams.
The System Engineering Intern will gain proficiency in the following tools and processes: DiskBoss and Sailpoint File Access Manager (disk scanning and sensitive data identification technologies), Jira (issue management and ticketing system), Confluence (collaboration and process documentation tool), MS Excel. The intern will also gain exposure to the important role and functions that a rigorous cyber security program provides to our organization and will develop skills to collaborate across departments to achieve desired objectives. They will also gain an understanding of the CME Group culture and commitment to cyber security and the related programs required to keep the organization secure.
