VSA is a boutique investment bank employing exceptional people who provide a high quality, professional service to a diverse range of international corporate clients.
Services include advice on fundraisings on the equity capital markets (ECM), corporate broking (research and sales), private and alternative financing and M&A advisory services. We act for a diverse range of public and private companies, ensuring that a top quality advisory and broking service is provided to them on an ongoing basis. Historically, VSA's strength has been in the natural resources sector and in recent years we have expanded into other sectors, including transitional energy, emerging technologies, leisure, support services and consumer.
VSA has offices in London and Shanghai, the latter opened in early 2017, with a focus on linking investors in Greater China with acquisition and funding opportunities in the West. VSA has also entered into a strategic alliance with Moshe Capital in Johannesburg, South Africa, in order to leverage our respective capabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa. We encourage a close working relationship between each of the international teams and the successful candidate would likely have the opportunity to travel.
We are seeking to recruit a high performing individual to join our team in London as an equity research analyst covering alternative energy and technology. VSA is exchange agnostic and actively seeks to cover clients beyond the LSE.
The successful candidate will lead coverage for their respective sector(s) encompassing full coverage of corporate clients as well as periodic thematic pieces in support of Corporate Broking. The analyst will be key to maintaining relationships with corporate clients as well as play a hands-on role in developing and supporting the pipeline of client coverage through their corporate and industry network. The role involves significant interaction with buyside clients. They will also provide analytical support to colleagues in VSA's corporate finance teams in London, Shanghai and Johannesburg.
Ideally the candidate will have experience in the alternative energy or technology sectors with a view to broadening their expertise. Given VSA's international outlook, the successful candidate should have a strong interest in Asia and Africa.
The successful candidates will need to demonstrate:
Ambition, enthusiasm and drive;
Ability to take on responsibility and act with autonomy;
Very strong attention to detail;
Degree qualified or equivalent;
At least 3 years' experience in a comparable role at an investment bank, boutique advisory firm, investment fund or professional services firm;
Understanding of company accounts, fundamental and relative analysis;
Strong financial modelling, numerical and analytical skills;
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Practicality and commercial awareness;
In order to perform the role, the individual will be required to dedicate time outside of standard business hours on certain projects and possibly undertake occasional travel as necessary.
Compensation & Benefits:
In return, the successful candidate will expect to receive:
Competitive salary according to experience;
Discretionary bonuses based upon both individual performance and VSA's operating profit;
Equity participation through share options; and
Comprehensive benefits package including private health care, life insurance (4 x salary), contributory pension and 25 days holiday.
