Position: Joining a busy and dynamic global wealth planning team who provide an impartial advisory service for the private clients of the bank. Working directly with these clients as well as the bankers, you will travel as needed and build a real long-term relationship with the clients. The advantage of this bank is that wealth planning is not a profit centre and is a complimentary service. This is therefore very attractive for someone looking to focus less on product-pushing and NNM targets and more about the overall advice they can give to the client in terms of tax planning, wealth planning, inheritance, investments, property, family/succession aspects etc, whilst at the same time have a rewarding job that you can feel good about and getting paid generously on top if it! Focusing on the UK market segment, you can also bring clients or experience from European markets as well as Middle East markets. It would be possible to deal with clients from all these areas under your care, as part of a very collegial and well-respected team who put the client first and are passionate about what they do. Your role will include, but not limited to, the following elements:
Advising private customers of the bank
Case study and opinion writing in the field of taxation and more generally on inheritance matters, primarily for the UK and Anglo-Saxon markets but not limited to (can include clients fromm Europe and/or Middle East)
Follow-up of tax issues related to the evolution of regulations and conventions, from the operational angle and products
Qualification of the tax status of financial products distributed by the Bank
Offering advice to UK domiciled and non-domiciled clients on all aspects of tax implications, trust structures, real estate, inheritance etc
Travelling regularly to visit clients and working closely with the clients' private bankers
Legal and fiscal support to compliance teams and reporting
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders and 3rd parties
Qualified lawyer; Masters in Tax preferred. Chartered Accountants comfortable on legal aspects with strong track record also considered
Specialised in UK law and UK clients tax and wealth planning aspects; exposure to other regions such as European clients, Middle East clients also a plus
Around 8-12 years' relevant experience - gained either in a bank, law firm, notary, multinational or equivalent
A commercial approach with good analysis and synthesizing skills
A good sense of argumentation and diplomacy; able to build confidence with the clients (both internally and externally)
A warm and approachable personality with a lot of humility and emotional intelligence
Skilled in the usual MS office tools
Fluent/mother-tongue English; some French (at least in terms of understanding) a strong plus
Eligible or already in possession of Swiss work permit and compelling reasons to move to the Geneva area, if not already based in the region - those wishing to relocate are also welcome and will be supported)
