Responsible for acting as the primary interface between technology infrastructure and a specific business/functional area. Incumbents help define business requirements, create application and process specifications, coordinate with delivery teams, and ensure that work is prioritized by business value and in alignment with the overarching business and technical strategies.
ROLE SUMMARY AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes a high level of business/technical expertise to support the technical, analytical, and quantitative needs of one or more business units
Has detailed understanding of the business unit's strategy and combines that with technical expertise in order to identify business needs and to recommend and implement sophisticated solutions
Serves as a gatekeeper for complex projects application development and enhancements using his or her understanding of how different products and systems are related, in order to prioritize issues and solutions, negotiate and consult with impacted parties, and oversees the software development life cycle through to implementation/resolution
Acts as a change lead for a lean-agile mind-set adoption and ensures organizational agility
Sets the expectations for analyst practices and ensures they are known and adhered to within the area
Works with key business stakeholders to design or transform a key business function or a specific business domain
Works on the firm's most important or complex initiatives that typically have impact on large numbers of associates, business functions, or growth areas for the firm
Identifies non-obvious relationships and anomalies often overlooked by others at the business unit level
Detects and overcomes issues before the broader team is aware of them
Proactively identifies, leads, and helps to influence discussions with the business to help solve a business problem, including various trade-offs and recommended approach
Capable of leading a team and/or large projects in terms of technical complexity, and/or organizational complexity
Experience with large buy-side asset management firm
Managing security master data vendors, aggregators & service providers including Bloomberg Data License
Makes decisions that are cognizant of the firm's broader business strategy
Stays current with many best-of-breed technologies
Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies and knows when/how/if to apply them appropriately
Converses in many technologies and learns new technologies quickly
Communicates architectural vision across the portfolio to all stakeholders
Identifies impacts across the entire portfolio and coordinates across senior levels to manage dependencies and potentially competing priorities
Considers the operational aspects of a system, long-term supportability, maintenance, etc.
Experience supporting platforms running both on premises and cloud (AWS preferred) - technology operations and infrastructure
Issue/Incident management systems (JIRA and ServiceNow preferred)
Experience of Bloomberg Polarlake, Bloomberg PORT/Barclays POINT, Yield Book, quant & risk analytics
