Elaia is seeking to bring in an Investor Relations professional to provide high-level input across a range of activities. His/her role will be to work closely with the General Partners in supporting their capital raising efforts with a global remit, and Elaia's placement agent to ensure best practices are implemented when it comes to investor liaison, reporting and developing new relations.
This busy and diverse role will suit an energetic, well-organized person with passion for technology and venture capital. The successful candidate will be used to dealing with the requirements of institutional, corporate and individual investors, will be committed to lead key business initiatives and to become a long-term contributor who benefits from the firm's success.
The position is located in Paris and involves a fair amount of travel, primarily within Europe.
He/She will report to the CFO, with regular interactions with Elaia's Managing Partner. On each Investor Relation or Fund Raise assignment, he/she will functionally report to the Partner(s) in charge of the relationship or the raise.
The Investor Relations professional will be responsible for assisting in writing quarterly and annual reports for review by the General Partners, responding to informational queries from current investors, preparing and attending regular meetings with strategic investors (deal flow & portfolio reviews), preparing documentation for new funds, organizing and heading out on roadshows with General Partners and/or Elaia's placement agent to meet prospective investors.
The Investor Relations professional will be the primary point of contact with prospective and current investors, and more generally will be responsible for:
Serving as the primary point of contact with prospective and current investors to handle information requests
Identifying and developing new relationships with institutional investors, family offices, corporate investors and fund-of-funds
Leading the development of relevant and persuasive presentation materials for both potential and existing investors
Conducting appropriate market research on target prospects, setting-up meetings and clearly communicating the firm's strategies and differentiating factors
Traveling with General Partners to meet with current and prospective investors
Responding to investors' data requests and preparing ongoing data content for investors
Working with other team members to facilitate on-site due diligence meetings
Managing long-term relationships with investors:
Assisting in the generation of quarterly and annual investor letters (which include a valuation and commentary for each fund) on behalf of the senior management
Planning for and participating in regular meetings with investors, including the deal flow and portfolio reviews with strategic investors, strategic committes and annual general assemblies, unformal marketing events with investors,
Assisting in updating and maintaining various fund models and databases
Preparing and maintaining a database of due diligence information and investment summaries for investor presentations
Maintaining a CRM system for existing investors and prospects
Working closely with the entire fund management team, including the chief financial officer, the head of marketing and communication, and the front office team members
Serving as an intermediary between the managing partners and the investor advisor committee
Candidates must have a keen interest in, and detailed understanding of, the tech VC space, with experience in previous roles where they have built both a strong client-facing capability, developed strong relationships with investors, and shown evidence of having raised capital successfully.
More specifically, successful candidates will have the following attributes:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering, Finance or Economics related field
Previous experience in a client-facing role and across the private markets (minimum of 5 years, ideally 7-10 years of relevant experience), preferably in private equity fundraising or investor relation roles in alternative investments
Quantifiable track record in raising and closing successful funds with family offices and institutional private equity investors
Detailed understanding of the VC space and the tech & deep tech start-ups ecosystem
Highly motivated and proactive personality, entrepreneurial, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong eye for detail
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Intensive experience with CRM softwares will be a plus.
Fluency in English and French is imperative, in other languages, especially Spanish, will be an advantage
