Job description: Blackstone's Platform Engineering Team is responsible for providing frameworks that empower 125+ developers to move faster with less risk across several different business units. As an engineer on the team, you will be responsible for developing new enhancements to our existing frameworks in addition to actively extending our capabilities with new ideas.
The position will involve deploying and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, full-stack development for our internal automation tools and Puppet manifest/module development. In addition, you will be researching and implementing technologies and workflows to drive the next wave of technology and development within Blackstone.
Build and maintain infrastructure using code-first approaches
Build, maintain, and manage clusters for technologies like Kubernetes
Support containerized workflows and applications
Drive container adoption among developers and teams
Work with development teams to migrate applications to containers
Research and deployment of new technologies to continue moving the team and Blackstone forward
Manifest creation and module development in Ruby
Extending the in house Puppet development tooling
Improving the software development process across teams
Work with operations and development teams to understand pain points and to drive automation priorities
Capable of evolving and improving complex systems
Hands on experience creating and managing Kubernetes clusters in different types of environments
Experience with role based access control, secret management, monitoring and service discovery in k8's environment
Bonus points for experience with Helm
Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure)
Demonstrated ability migrating non-containerized applications to containers
Bonus points for experience with Windows Containers
Scripting languages such as Python or Ruby a plus
Experience working with source control and CI/CD systems (Jenkins/TeamCity,etc.)
Experience with a configuration management tool (Puppet preferred)
Excellent troubleshooting skills on both Windows and Linux
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Desire to work in a heterogeneous ecosystem
Passion for challenging the status quo
