Macroeconomic Advisers by IHS Markit is seeking an experienced, dynamic, analytically strong US macro-economist. This position will report to the co-heads of US economics within IHS Markit (located in St. Louis). It is preferred that this person be located with our team in St. Louis but for a suitable candidate we would consider other US locations/ Remote work.
Econometric modeling to support refinements to the Macroeconomic Advisers' US model (MA/US) and other related work.
Client training on MA/US.
Research and write on topical subjects related to the US economy and policy.
Participate in the monthly forecast round and contribute to the monthly reports communicating the forecast to clients.
Analyze and write on the flow of monthly data releases that bear on the outlook.
Monitor financial markets and write on implications of those developments for the outlook.
Derive implications of the forecast for financial markets and help communicate that to clients.
Represent the firm's views at conferences and in one-to-one meetings with clients and prospects.
PhD from a top 25 ranked University
Exceptional econometric modelling, writing and presentation skills.
Minimum 10 years experience following, forecasting, researching and writing about the US economy.
Fed experience is a major plus
Demonstrated research track record, a deep understanding of the functioning of the US economy and how policy impacts it, and exceptional writing and presentation skills.
