We are seeking a French or Luxembourg qualified Lawyer to join JP Morgan in London on an initial 6 months contract. You should have gained your qualification in France or Luxembourg and have a deep understanding of the laws and regulations within those countries as well as experience within a financial services organisation.
The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation's lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
The Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) is a firmwide program responsible for developing and executing a sustainable infrastructure and process that (i) documents JPMorgan Chase's Obligations arising from material laws, rules and regulatory requirements and (ii) connects the Obligations to policies, when applicable, as well as to procedures or other documentation that support compliance with those laws, rules and regulatory requirements.
For the program, JPMorgan requires talented lawyers with a regulatory awareness and background, who are able to understand the risks to the Lines of Business and JPMorgan of non-compliance with laws and regulations.
Lead and participate on cross-functional teams to develop and maintain Legal Obligations for JPMorgan's businesses in France, Luxembourg and other EMEA countries.
Collaborate with line of business lawyers to review changes in laws and regulation to determine applicability and impact to JPMorgan.
Liaise with line of business lawyers to respond to questions from the business and corporate functions about Legal Obligations and their impact on particular business lines, products or legal entities.
Instruct and liaise with external counsel, as required.
Conduct gap analyses on the completeness and accuracy of Legal Obligations under EU, French and Luxembourg laws and regulations.
Develop subject matter expertise on products and services offered by JPMorgan, as required.
Assist with the development of policies, procedures and controls.
Work with Compliance, Risk and other internal control functions to identify and implement process changes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Participate in legal and other firmwide projects.
French or Luxembourg qualified lawyer with experience obtained in private practice or in-house at a financial institution.
Background in EU, French and Luxembourg financial regulatory law
