As a part of TIAAs Financial Solutions business, TIAA Bank, a division of TIAA, FSB, provides full-service, nationwide banking and lending services to consumer, commercial and institutional clients through a variety of channels, including online, its Florida-based financial centers and at other business offices throughout the country.
The Risk Officer II is responsible for assisting with the management of eight key areas of risk, as outlined in the banks risk appetite statement, and with specific application to Consumer Residential Lending and Servicing. The Risk Officer II is also responsible for monitoring risk exposures from existing and future business operations; the analysis and escalation of potential threats and events that could significantly impact the overall integrity of the Banks Consumer Residential Lending and Servicing areas; conducting empirical analysis; direct action necessary to offset or remediate significant exposures at the request of Senior Management and the Chief Risk Officer. This position may have responsibility for directing team of risk analysts or associates. The Risk Officer II works at the direction from the Chief Risk Officer and the Senior Risk Officer.
Maintains the Board approved risk framework, for identifying, assessing, and managing risk.
Assists in establishing, directing and maintaining risk priorities, initiatives and goals within Consumer Lending and Servicing areas
Acts as a risk advisor and, in particular, helps guide senior management in their risk management responsibilities, and brings a diverse risk focused viewpoint to strategic planning and other activities of senior management
May direct and evaluate independent empirical analysis of risks including; operational, interest rate, liquidity, credit and other financial risks.
Establishes and maintains a process for embedding risk awareness and driving overall risk culture.
May be required to assess investment strategies and their performance.
Brings a diverse risk focused viewpoint to strategic planning and other activities of senior management.
Facilitates and implements the operational risk process, providing coaching and guidance to business line management.
Coordinates material for the risk committee and the Board communicating the Banks risk profile, control infrastructure, any known failures and resulting remediation actions.
Participates in due diligence efforts to evaluate risks associated with potential acquisitions and identify the appropriate actions needed to mitigate these risks upon integration.
Monitors, tracks and reports on all outstanding mitigation plans (MRAs, MAPs).Coordinates with the quality control team to ensure an adequate monitoring and testing
10+ years of risk experience within residential lending and/or residential servicing
Bachelors degree with a major in Finance, Economics, Statistics or other related field
MBA or MS in similar disciplines strongly
Ability to build partner relationships with TIAA Bank business lines, vendors, regulators, auditors, etc.
Familiarity with industry-specific laws, regulations, and practices
Demonstrated skills in planning and project management and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience and demonstrated familiarity with Residential Lending and/or Servicing, including Secondary Market and Held for Balance Sheet products, Operations, Underwriting, and related industry practices
Ability to build a strong business case to influence outcomes and create consensus
Analytical and strategic mind-set in order to assess current and potential risks and implement controls
Experience and working knowledge of statistical and financial concepts, methodologies and processes
Comfort with analytical tools and applications
Proven and documented management experience
