We are looking for a Senior Analyst Group Shareholding Reporting to:
interpret complex regulatory requirements, knows our business, understands and is capable of re-engineering front-to-back processes and can manage senior stakeholders as a senior analyst in the APAC Group Shareholding Reporting (GSR) team.
help us fulfil UBS's regulatory disclosure obligations for reporting aggregated shareholdings to regulatory authorities, stock exchanges as well as issuers.
keep up to date and detailed knowledge of the various rules and regulations on shareholder reporting obligations in APAC jurisdictions (e.g. substantial shareholding, takeover panel, short selling)
understand and interpret these complex regulations, apply them to internal products and business activities, and explain the requirements clearly to internal and external stakeholders
oversee daily position monitoring and disclosure submission in accordance with respective regulations and support the team on the ground as and when needed
perform periodic legal reviews of major shareholding requirements across APAC jurisdictions and maintain complex calculation rules in GSR's central position aggregation system
juggle a variety of time-critical demands and liaise with staff outside the team, such as equity traders, group operations, in-house and external legal counsel, regulatory affairs and IT specialists
initiate and drive detailed process reviews, improvements and system enhancements including extensive data analytics and process re-engineering
ensure standards as defined by the Quality Assurance team are implemented in GSR APAC and the regional function is in compliance with the function's operational risk framework and adheres to key process controls
identify and escalate relevant issues on a timely basis.
Your team You'll be the senior analyst and a subject matter expert within the APAC Group Shareholder Reporting Team in Hong Kong which is part of Group Compliance, Regulatory & Governance. The team is responsible for analyzing global equity holdings in issuers regulated in the APAC region, monitoring holdings in sensitive industries and where appropriate, reporting holdings to the assigned regulators. This role includes providing compliance advisory support to trading desks, interpreting new regulations and implementing monitoring processes to ensure compliance, improving internal controls, assessing strengths and weaknesses in the GSR function and developing and updating processes. You will be working in an international and very dynamic environment by managing sensitive regulatory reporting activities.
Your expertise – a university degree – 7+ years of experience in a similar role with excellent knowledge on financial products and business activities, front-to-back process engineering and shareholding reporting – a strong interest in working in the compliance department of an international financial institution – strong technical skills (i.e. Excel) as well as excellent organizational, planning and time management – a proven track record in change management – excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills – knowledgeable on financial markets and products and the banking industry including investment banking, asset and wealth management – able to interpret complex regulations alongside analyzing and implementing them within our systems and processes – capable of independently performing extremely detailed data and process analysis, re-engineering and implementation of respective process improvements – a great communicator that can handle challenging situations and has strong leadership skills – enquiring in nature with a propensity to question facts and data, and a tenacious attitude towards problem solving – willing to perform detailed analytical work to a consistently high level of accuracy, even in times of high pressure – a self-starter that embraces change and is naturally inquisitive.
