As Senior Counsel, you will provide legal advice and support to all RBC Capital Markets, Investor & Treasury Services (I&TS), and Wealth Management businesses in Canada. You will work on the resolution of actual and potential disputes, including client complaints and demands, securities/regulatory inquiries and proceedings, domestic and multi-jurisdictional class actions, complex arbitrations and commercial litigation, and sensitive regulatory and internal investigations. In this role, you will also identify and implement strategies to maximize efficiency, value, and cost effectiveness in the management of disputes.
What will you do?
Provide substantive and strategic advice and counsel for the resolution of actual and potential disputes, formal legal proceedings, regulatory enforcement matters, and internal investigations for RBC's Capital Markets Investor & Treasury Services (I&TS), and Wealth Management businesses in Canada
Provide litigation reporting to various legal entity boards and line of business operating committees, as well as internally within the Law Group
Maintain and share knowledge of particular areas of law relevant to business partners and area of practice
What do you need to succeed?
5+ years of experience in litigation and dispute management; especially securities litigation and class actions
LLB or equivalent
Effective and persuasive written and oral communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple competing matters effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Fluency in English and French
In-house litigation experience
