GROUP DESCRIPTION: The Metals, Materials & Mining team is responsible for covering a broad range of corporate and financial sponsor clients involved in the extraction and processing of a wide variety of base, bulk and precious commodities. Although located in New York, the team is comprised of senior bankers with diverse international backgrounds, and the group's clients are located globally. Metals, Materials & Mining is a new group within Evercore's established Advisory platform, offering an opportunity for successful candidates to help shape and grow the business in a flat, merit-based environment.
POSITION: Evercore seeks to hire an experienced Associate for its Metals, Materials & Mining Group in New York, NY.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Evercore's differentiated approach to advisory provides Associates with the ability to work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming transactions around the world. The small transaction team structure creates a strong platform for Associates to learn investment banking and assume high levels of responsibility at early stages of their careers. As part of the team, the Associate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including: sellside and buyside M&A engagements; activism and raid defense; divestitures and spin-off engagements; equity and equity-linked capital-raising; debt private placements; special committee engagements; debt and restructuring advisory and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: The Associate will be ambitious, self-directed, creative and resourceful. The candidate will be passionately interested in a career in investment banking, intellectually-curious and eager to learn. We are seeking an academically accomplished candidate with the ability to multitask. This position comes with challenging work and a demanding environment in a rapidly growing firm.
The ideal candidate will have:
1-2 years of Investment Banking experience
Graduate of a top tier Business School or Associate promote
Excellent grasp of corporate finance, valuation, financial accounting and macroeconomics
Familiarity with statistics would be a positive
Superior analytical skills and demonstrated excellence in academic coursework
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to articulate ideas
Strong communications skills, both written and oral
Strong work ethic and stamina
Enthusiastic, outgoing, and achievement-oriented character
Intellectual curiosity and an interest in finance and macroeconomics
