Zurich is seeking a dynamic self-starter to join the Group Communications function from March-August 2020.
As a Media Relations Officer you will be right at the forefront of communicating the Zurich story with media from across the globe with an emphasis on the Swiss media and innovation topics. No day is ever the same and you will be expected to be on top of the global news agenda, a digital expert and a passionate communicator. Your role is also crucial to the day-to-day running of the Media Relations function, and you will manage our systems and processes ensuring that they are leading edge, well documented and efficient.

As a Media Relations Officer your main responsibilities will involve:
Developing and executing media relations strategies and plans, notably to raise awareness and recognition of the Zurich Innovation Championship
Managing media enquiries
Pitching stories to print, broadcast and online media
Writing news releases, Q&As, reactive statements, briefings, articles and social media posts in English and German
Managing the day-to-day running of key Media Relations tools and processes, including media cuttings, posting and dissemination of news and formatting of news releases
Working with agencies to assist with the development of assets to promote our messaging
Cultivating relationships with internal and external influencers
Your Skills and Experience
As a Media Relations Officer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
University level education, or equivalent professional experience
At least 3-5 years of delivering best practice in media relations
Excellent command of the German and English languages, including an outstanding attention to detail in writing, editing and copy editing
Profound knowledge of media relations, including experience as a media relations spokesperson
Besides the traditional media landscape, you will be skilled in the social media space and have experience in using digital channels to get into a dialog with key influencers
Commitment to and enthusiasm for executing as well on administrative duties as on higher profile responsibilities
Working experience in a global environment and with different cultures, in corporate structures
Knowledge of the insurance and/or financial services industry is a strong plus
Strong social skills related to the readiness to go the extra mile
Strategic, organized and structured approach to work with a high personal flexibility will help you juggle a variety of different tasks in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities
Strong ability to cope with pressure while still delivering high quality output
Ability to quickly understand issues and new topics
