Achieve the strategic business objectives of ensuring effective risk management actions and governance are in place, by driving the formation of business operating plans to execute strategy for enhanced profitability and business growth. Track and report progress, maintain governance structure and ensure consistent application.
Ensure adherence to HSBC values by being consistently depending and doing the right thing, being open to different ideas and cultures, and staying connected with customers, communities, and regulators.
Maintain close working relationship with internal stakeholders, risk functions and the wider GB population. Actively participate in working group forums and governance committees.
Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the application of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure good quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance
Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial and project management, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of a management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, conduct high quality and efficient reviews including remediation activity
Contribute to recommend changes and improvements, facilitate controls remediation where required, raise awareness and understanding of risk, controls and risk management.
Support to manage internal and external audit requirements
Partner with and appropriately challenge Risk oversight functions and Internal and External Audit to ensure a holistic view of risk profile.
A sound knowledge of the Global Banking and Markets business, including products, services, systems and processes
Good understanding of financial crime risk management and controls, preferably gained through experience in risk related roles within front and middle office
Sound knowledge of changing banking regulations and operational risk concept in the financial sector
Exposure to an operations and a control environment, such as audit or compliance
Ability to identify, assess and communicate the need for risk management intervention in complex, fast paced environments
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group
Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work independently under pressure within a team environment
Strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst adhering to timelines and quality of output
Ability to distil complex and varied information into useful, insightful and concise recommendations and consider alternative and lateral solutions
Ability to use initiative to resolve issues, whilst dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders and team members, distributed across functions and locations
