How will we help you grow?
This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence model risk management at RBC. You will assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, corporate governance processes, and fraud prevention and detection, in the Audit Platform. You will provide an independent objective assessment of the model risk management practices. You will assess processes and risk and control structures, build data analytics and create insights to the Audit Group, and act as a trusted advisor to the business/key business partners. You will get to work with and learn from our extensive global network of people, including risk management professionals, data scientists, researchers, and various subject matter experts. You will have access to frequent training opportunities, coaching and mentorship, which will allow you to build upon the knowledge and skills you bring to RBC.
What will you do?
Leads/manages a team of internal audit professionals and provides leadership, coaching, performance management and personal development support
Provide input into development of annual audit plan and lead execution of a significant portfolio of audits in the annual plan
Ability to work in a dynamically changing environment and lead people through modernization from traditional auditing to focus on data analytics; promotes change within the audit platform
Works collaboratively with, and assesse the effectiveness of key risk management strategies with 1st and 2nd lines of defense
Provides input on the assessment of the effectiveness of risk management practices in the market, counterparty credit and liquidity risk areas including capital
Leverages data analysis and insights across the enterprise, and across all stages of the audit lifecycle, to apply to audit portfolio
Supports the Senior Director in their work with our primary regulators (OSFI, Federal Reserve and OCC)
Fosters the development of key relationships with data stewards and heads of platform technology to understand key applications and data sources
Achieves deeper insight into the root-causes and potential impact of audit issues, underlying risks using analytics
Advises Executives on internal controls and governance, during audit fieldwork and reporting. Conduct proactive and ongoing discussions with business leaders
Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on audit evidence that may involve significant risk or ambiguity
Skillfully negotiates workable solutions to conflict situations with both external and internal groups
What do you need to succeed?
7+ years of risk management and regulatory/compliance experience
Experience in any one or more of Market Risk, Model Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, and Liquidity & Funding Risk in either 1st or 2nd line of defense
Experience with audit best practices and methodologies, including credit and market risk modeling
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with our primary regulators ( OSFI, Federal Reserve and OCC) including risk management and compliance requirements
Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with stakeholders and senior leaders
Quantitative Degree in Finance/Mathematics/Physics would be an asset
Professional auditing or risk management designation (one or more of the following: CPA, CA,CIA,CISA,CISSP,CRISC)
Working knowledge of Internal Audit Services practices, policies, procedures and systems with Internal Audit experience in Banking or Capital Markets
