The Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO) is TD Bank's leading authority on the governance and management of data and is part of TD's Operational Risk Management organization. We have the tools, processes, and mandate to leverage TD's data to become the bank of the future and we're looking for transformative leaders to help us make that happen. Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) is a fundamental function of the OCDO which partners closely with lines of business through the enterprise-wide Data Governance structure to drive data strategy. Effective data governance supports critical business and strategic decision making, legendary customer experiences and reduced operational and reputational risk
This position oversees Enterprise Data Governance, manages the CDO Liaison team and will be responsible for driving strategic data initiatives to achieve mission-critical advances in data governance. This role will report into the AVP, Enterprise Data Governance and accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
Engaging and influencing the data governance community enterprise-wide:
Provide guidance, consultative support and oversight to Lines of Business for key data projects and challenges in alignment the OCDO programs, policy and standards
Influence and lead the evolution of processes to support enterprise processes, standards and tools for data governance oversight across the Bank
Establish strong working relationships with a diverse set of businesses & functions across the bank; including but not limited to: TRMIS, Privacy, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance and all lines of business globally.
Provide support for successful execution of OCDO programs, with priority on activities with cross-line of business dependencies
Enable the continued evolution and adoption of enterprise data capabilities such as Metadata Management, Data Quality, Reference / Master Data, Data Management in Projects
Inform OCDO programs and policies based on knowledge of Line of Business data priorities and interactions with key stakeholders
Ensure successful data governance of key artifacts, such as the internal Data Governance Book of Record,
Ensure full scope of governance councils / meetings, membership and reporting cadence are aligned and maintained effectively
Oversee the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Team :
Direct EDG team operations and guide relationships with enterprise Lines of Business, focusing on advice, guidance and consultative support
Drive increased awareness of LOB data strategies and projects within the OCDO teams to ensure OCDO programs are being advanced to address evolving business needs and risks related to data
Data stewardship leadership and management - execute mandates, interaction, change management & decision protocols to advance enterprise-wide accountability over TD's data assets with the customer experience top of mind
Support the education and continuous development of data stewards and other key governance and business partners in the enterprise
Develop and foster collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders across the bank in support of the OCDO mandate and metrics, customer focus and regulatory requirements
Drive adoption of the Data Governance Operating Model
Lead, coach and develop the CDO Liaison team
Processes and procedures - ensure processes and procedures are documented and routinely reviewed and assessed, with appropriate stakeholder involvement, and focus on continues improvement and efficiencies within the team
Reporting and metrics - develop and execute reporting to track the progress of data management capability maturity against enterprise targets
8+ years leading complex business / data / technology initiatives within and across multiple businesses
In-depth understanding of data governance best practices and industry trends;
Experience in data or information management
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a focus on influencing, negotiation and collaboration
Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present ideas and facilitate discussions to build consensus to a broad range of stakeholders
Strategic thinking and thought leadership capabilities
Creative, analytical and strategic thinker/problem solver
Ability to drive programs with complex interdependencies and assess how work underway impacts other areas / projects
Ability to thrive in a face paced, dynamic and ambiguous environment. High tolerance for the pressure of constant change and stringent timelines
Flexibility and change leadership skills are required
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Previous experience leading high performance teams in a demanding environment
Previous experience in roles with cross-border mandates is an asset
Experience with enterprise wide initiatives preferred
Project management experience is an asset
Experience working with Senior Executives, regulators & cross-border stakeholders preferred
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
College / University and/or equivalent work experience in the financial services industry
