Our client provides specialist residential and commercial lending products primarily focused on meeting the needs of Small Business and the Self Employed across Australia. They work with a range of introducers selected for their expertise in the specialist lending market and are currently seeking an experienced Credit Assessor who has experience in assessing loans for broker applications and the credit impaired.
Reporting to the Credit Manager, your role as the Credit Assessor is to meet the demand of increased volume, assess and decision, perform searches and verify information, adhere to lending policy and regulations plus develop relationships with third party brokers. You will be required to perform these duties:
Assess and decision residential and commercial mortgage applications
Perform searches and verify information in line with company guidelines
Adhere to internal lending policy and industry regulations
Use credit risk analysis skills to determine outcome
Develop strong relationships with third party introducers and ensure that service levels are met
Liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. valuers, solicitors) as required
Own and manage pipeline effectively
Assess and decision complex residential and commercial mortgage applications which may require a higher delegated lending authority
Develop and manage relationships with a direct team, assisting them generate new business and maintain a productive relationship with Credit by handling any escalated matters.
Ensure product selection meets guidelines
You will be required to have these skills:
Current or previous holder of a DCA, DLA, CAD or equivalent
Consumer DLA up to $2.0m
Commercial DLA up to $1.0m
Manual credit assessment experience (Ideally in the specialist mortgage lending sector)
Specialist knowledge in residential and commercial credit assessment
Strong knowledge of the end to end mortgage process
Knowledge of the National Credit Code Protection Act, Privacy Act and AML/CTF legislation.

Bachelor level qualification in Finance, Economics or related discipline preferred.
Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or Credit Management

Attention to detail – Accurate Administration skills
Customer centric attitude
Proven ability to own and execute on a range of tasks

To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter and have over 2 years' experience in exercising a DLA in the financial services industry.
