The Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners (AIP) Private Markets team manages approximately $11 billion in assets under management as of June 2019 and is positioned to provide clients with a full range of private market investment options, including buyout, growth capital, venture capital, performance private credit, special situations and impact investing. AIP invests through fund investments, co-investments and secondaries.
The appointed candidate will support the AIP Portfolio Specialist/Client Service Team in facilitating new fundraises and servicing existing clients. Responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation of marketing materials, RFPs and client reporting. The candidate will be required to liaise with AIP's portfolio managers and other teams within the firm such as Sales, Operations and Legal in order to assist in bringing new funds to market, and providing an exceptional level of client service. This is a multi-faceted role incorporating elements of sales, marketing, client service and project management. The team services a range of clients across the EMEA and Asia region, including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and Ultra High Net Worth individuals.

Investor relations professionals at the analyst level work closely with senior team members on business development and client services. Specific responsibilities will include and not limited to:
Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of AIP portfolios through extensive interaction with the investment team. Ensure conversational fluency with all aspects of the private equity asset class.
Collaborate with Morgan Stanley distribution teams to effectively communicate AIP solutions to a diverse array of prospects.
Assist in navigating the regulatory and legal landscape for private markets funds, in terms of liaising with legal and compliance to ensure that best practices are being followed.
Assist in the creation of client reporting for all private equity vehicles. This includes compiling underlying data from multiple data sources using Word, Excel, Webtop and AIP's proprietary on-line Private Equity data portal.
Create and deliver customized materials in response to client requests and business opportunities.
Participate in the development and editing of RFPs to create an effective final product.
Ensure that all appropriate resources are brought to bear in order to move prospects through the pipeline and bring to a close.
Further relationships with clients and prospects through ad hoc interaction and portfolio updates.
Provide market feedback to the investment team to help identify new product opportunities.
Assist in the planning and execution of AIP client events.
Perform ad-hoc related duties as assigned.
Relevant work experience, ideally from a business development, client relationship management, or product specialist role is an advantage.
Knowledge or experience in alternative investments, especially Private Equity investments is an advantage.
High-calibre graduate with a degree (or equivalent) from a top institution; IMC or other relevant industry certification are an advantage.
Ability to engage with prospects and clients.
Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and quantitative skills.
High level of quantitative and analytical skills with a strong interest in private equity and understanding of financial concepts.
Demonstrate flexible attitude with the willingness to expand, create and institute new business projects and ideas at the direction of the team.
Self-starting team player, with a high level of resourcefulness to efficiently and effectively problem solve.
Highly detail oriented with a strong ability to manage and execute simultaneous projects with challenging deadlines and tasks without reminders.
Strong knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English; an additional language is an advantage.
