Our client is highly-credentialed investment bank with offices throughout Asia, Europe and the US, and works closely with colleagues across the region. In line with the global business they have established a successful principal investment capability into the real estate development and construction arena over recent years.
With this continued growth they have a newly created position for a talented and experienced Associate Director / junior Director to execute new principal investment transactions.
Based in Melbourne, as a key member of this team, you will be expected to hit the ground running, a 'roll the sleeves up' mentality and ability to work across the full transaction cycle. Your responsibilities will be to:
Originate, structure and execute residential development loan transactions, including due diligence and portfolio management;
Assist managing all aspects of the Principal Investment business in Australia
Review of all related financial documents, negotiations with borrowers and attendance of each investment committee meeting
Establish and strengthen relationship with developers, investors and intermediaries to ensure a strong pipeline of appropriate deals;
Identify new investment areas to expand the business in Australia.
It is expected you will have the following skills, attributes and experience:
Bachelor and/or Masters degree in Business, Commerce, Law or Property (preferred but not essential)
5-10 years plus real estate finance experience gained within a big 4 or regional bank property banking team, boutique property financier, or property investment manager;
High level of knowledge and experience of the real estate funding process. Including: a strong grasp of financial and feasibility modelling of development and investment transactions across real estate; ability to complete financial, market & legal due diligence; ability to review and negotiate term sheets and formal legal documentation;
Proven ability to initiate and build relationships with property developers across Australia;
Strong attention to detail and a passion for real estate;
The ability to work on your own initiative.
