Department Overview Risk management at Wells Fargo is organized with clearly defined lines of defense to provide effective risk oversight and decision-making across the organization. Each line of defense is assigned specific responsibilities and understands the associated activities it is expected to perform.
Independent risk management in Corporate Risk is responsible for independent oversight of risk-taking activities. The function is led by the Chief Risk Officer, who reports to the chair of the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors. Strategic enterprise function-aligned leaders in the Corporate Risk organization provide an independent view of horizontal, cross-business risks.
Strategic Enterprise Risk Management Strategic Enterprise Risk Management (SERM) is a group directly under the Chief Risk Officer that is responsible for a variety of strategic functions within Corporate Risk that includes risk reporting, risk governance, risk programs that oversee risk measurement and risk identification, strategic and reputational risk oversight, and risk optimization and strategy.
This current role will be part of the Reporting Shared Services team within Enterprise Risk Reporting and Intelligence (ERRI). This is a newly formed group within SERM will be the central point for SERM's reporting/analytics data needs in partnership with teams across SERM and coordinate technology enablement and data infrastructure with Enterprise Information Technology(EIT) and Data Management & Insights (DMI) to address tactical issues and set strategic direction.

About Role SERM ERAI (Enterprise Risk Analytics & Intelligence) team leverages advanced text mining techniques to classify news articles into specific categories such as level one risks, key risk topics, and risk themes. Accurate labeling and classification by risk experts is critical for developing news article classification and clustering solution using machine learning algorithms. The SERM team is looking for a highly motivated individuals, committed to detail and willing to help establish a foundation of well-prepared news datasets. The position would also work with ERAI team to test the results of news classification and clustering algorithms.
Take weekly batches of text data (mainly news articles) from ERAI Team, and label them according to the project requirements with a sufficient level of accuracy. Elaborate labeling rationale to ERAI team.
Work with ERAI team to establish news labelling procedures and processes.
Work with ERAI team to compare news classification and clustering results with labeled dataset.
Responsible for the quality assurance of all labeled text data.
University degree in Business or related discipline.
4+ years of industry experience (credit risk, ALM, risk reporting, economics, etc..). Risk management experience preferred
Ability to understand and articulate underlying banking risk drivers, new regulatory changes and competitive threats
Familiarity with U.S. bank regulators, enforcement actions and requirements
Fluency in English and at least one regional language.
Very detail oriented and organized
Good understanding of banking products, operations and business lines
Must stay current with significant banking industry, risk management and economic developments
