We are currently looking for a Research Manager to join the Research & Client Insights team. You will be an integral part of the Research & Client Insights team which is a global function. T he team designs and delivers global research programmes across the B2B (CIB and CB) and Private Banking client segments, providing strategic inputs to the business from both clients and staff. The programme of work spans studies run by external agencies, core annual/semi-annual studies run in-house as well as ad-hoc projects to meet a specific need.
As Research Manager focusing on external surveys you will be responsible for partnering with the relevant client business teams to maximise the value which we can extract from the third party research studies which we invest in, across the Corporate and Institutional bank. You will be excited by data, with the curiosity to uncover the insights within survey results. You will be experienced at using survey results and insights to deliver the key messages to senior stakeholders. You are likely to be currently working within a research agency, looking for a chance to move to a research team within a client organization where you can have more visibility of the impact of research findings on business decisions.
While this role is focused on syndicated surveys run by external agencies, the broader activities of the team include:
Annual Client Feedback studies for CIB and CB segments globally where we capture feedback from client decision makers, network managers, treasurers etc on the strength of our strategic and transactional relationships
Annual Client Feedback studies for Private Banking HNW clients to capture their feedback on their relationship with the bank
Ad-hoc research studies into the usage of specific products and services among clients
Synthesis of research findings from multiple sources along with business data to create deeper insights at a client level
Career development opportunities in this role are varied. There is scope to develop within the role, within the team and within the bank. Research skills are well-prized and previous incumbents in this role have moved into business teams.
The Role Responsibilities
Become familiar with the various third party research studies in use, across Greenwich, East & Partners, FIMetrix, The Asset, Coalition, etc
Ensure that the timelines for each study are understood and communicated
Coordinate our input to each survey, including questionnaire reviews, respondent targeting, status tracking, etc
For syndicated surveys, work with the Analyst team to manage the taxonomy mapping tables that link Standard Chartered's core client list to client naming conventions in use within external partners such as Greenwich or Coalition.
Prepare the internal briefing notes ahead of each relevant survey, so that RMs/Sales are in a position to encourage their clients to respond, when appropriate
Ensure that research reports delivered by the vendor are clear, tailored to our business audiences, with key insights accessible
Coordinate briefings with business teams, including senior business leaders
Develop summary insights-led roll-up reports for broader internal communication
Engage with the research providers to ensure we get the right levels of service from them.
Be conscious of data privacy and confidentiality needs and ensure that any confidential data is treated appropriately and any risks are understood and managed.
In addition, manage ad-hoc research projects for business teams as band-width permits
Our Ideal Candidate
Minimum 7 years' experience in Market research and/or banking.
Bachelor's degree preferably a Master's degree or professional qualification in marketing, market research or related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with business leaders, minimum 2 years experience in a role with significant management contact.
Expert on market research methodologies, survey design and analysis / reporting.
Strong ability and passion in analysing data to uncover client and business insights.
Strong verbal presentation and reporting skills.
Qualtrics experience an advantage (survey creation, report design)
Strong project management skills, good prioritization, able to identify issues and risks and to seek help when needed for continued progress
Able to work effectively at different levels of the organization - with team, senior executives, and middle management
Self-starter, comfortable both working independently and as part of a close-knit team. Detail oriented with strong motivation and work ethic.
Comfortable to work in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multi-cultural environment. Able to adapt working style to respond to the needs of different stakeholders.
