We are currently looking for experienced analysts to join the Research & Client Insights team in a range of roles spanning data modelling, research communications lead and reporting lead. You will be an integral part of the Research & Client Insights team which is a global function.
The team designs and delivers global research programmes across the B2B (CIB and CB) and Private Banking client segments, providing strategic inputs to the business from both clients and staff. The programme of work spans studies run by external agencies, core annual/semi-annual studies run in-house as well as ad-hoc projects to meet a specific need. As Research Analyst you will be responsible for the successful delivery of research projects from initial sample creation through fieldwork to analysis and reporting. You will have a specific area of expertise related to research programme delivery which will be one of the three below:
Data modelling - you will be excited by data and enjoy analysis, modelling and data manipulation. You will be an expert in creating VBA macros to automate your analysis and have expertise in SPSS, SAS or Q and Qualtrics. You will always be looking for ways to improve your analysis, to simplify and streamline to create more efficient and effective solutions
Communications lead - you will have experience coordinating global or multi-country surveys, be a skilled communicator able to build connection and engagement with people from different cultures and countries. You will have strong project management experience, able to deliver on time and practiced at identifying risks and issues that could impact on project delivery, and raising these early so that they can gain attention
Reporting lead - you will be excited by data and enjoy analysis and searching for the key insights from within a mass of data. You will have an understanding of the key products within the wholesale banking product array including Cash, Trade, FX, Securities Services, Corporate Advisory etc. You will have good writing skills and be adept at producing survey reports that clearly communicate the key insights from each study
All analyst will have strong core MS Office skills (Access, Excel, Powerpoint). You may currently be working within a research agency and be looking for a chance to move to a research team within a client organization where you can have more visibility of the impact of research findings on business decisions.
The Research Analyst team will work together as a team and with the Research Managers to successfully build survey samples, validate respondent details, launch surveys, track response, generate status metrics, report status throughout live running and build final reporting. In addition the team will maintain our mapping database which matches client taxonomies between the bank and the core external vendors whom we work with. Annual Client Feedback studies for CIB and CB segments globally where we capture
feedback from client decision makers, network managers, treasurers etc on the strength of our strategic and transactional relationships
Annual Client Feedback studies for Private banking HNW clients to capture their feedback on their relationship with the bank
Ad-hoc research studies into the usage of specific products and services among clients
Syndicated (third party) studies run by external agencies which help us to understand our market positioning relative to competition
Integration of research findings from multiple sources along with business data to create deeper insights at a client level
Career development opportunities in this role are varied. There is scope to develop within the team - either focusing on analysis and project management to progress into the Project Manager role or focusing on Research solution design and business advice to progress into a Survey Manager role. Research skills are well-prized within the bank and previous incumbents in this role have also moved into business teams, for example within the FM COO team or the CIB COO team.
The Role Responsibilities
Analyse client revenue and contact data to design representative survey samples for client survey launches
Create tracking tools which enable survey progress to be tracked at a granular level aligned with our sample objectives - e.g. tracking respondents across core network locations from within a specific client group, as an example
Actively partner with the Research Managers and other Analysts to launch surveys, track progress, create progress reporting and distribute effectively to the stakeholder group
Data modeler: Lead data analysis and macro building, seeking to find efficient solutions to improve the way we work. For syndicated surveys, manage the taxonomy mapping tables that link Standard Chartered's core client list to client naming conventions in use within external partners such as Greenwich or Coalition.
Communications lead: coordinate global multi-country surveys, actively communicating with in-country coordinators to ensure activities are clear and timelines are met
Reporting Lead: Develop analysis models to identify key findings and insights and create materials to share research results with countries and with business heads.
Monitor achievement of research goals by compiling stats and reports for business managers to ensure that surveys meet the response targets and demographics that we have set
Work closely with Research Managers throughout
Manage the processes for survey invitation, reminder release, status tracking reporting
Our Ideal Candidate
Educational Discipline in Statistics, Marketing or Business Administration is preferred
Experience in Market Research agency a strong advantage (2-3 years as a minimum)
Knowledge of financial services and the Corporate / Institutional banking product array including Cash, Trade, FX, Securities Services, Corporate Advisory etc
Experience running surveys with hard to reach audiences and specifically with B2B and HNW segments
Excellent Excel, Powerpoint skills
Data Modeller: expert in Excel VBA macro building and model building
Data Modeller / Reporting Lead: Strong knowledge of Statistical software packages such as SPSS or Q (preferred), adept at statistical analysis and modelling. SAS Programming an added advantage
Communications Lead / Reporting Lead: Strong communication skills: ability to build clear and effective communications that drive action
Qualtrics experience a strong advantage (survey creation, report design)
Strong project management skills, good prioritization, able to identify issues and risks and to seek help when needed for continued progress
Able to work effectively at all different levels of the organization - with team, senior executives, and middle management
Self-starter, comfortable both working independently and as part of a close-knit team. Detail oriented with strong motivation and work ethic.
Comfortable to work in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multi-cultural environment. Able to adapt working style to respond to the needs of different stakeholders.
