The Lea d Financial Officer (LFO) develops and manages the relationship between Finance and the Technology business partner to support their financial needs and objectives. The LFO acts as a focal point to provide insights and direction regarding Bank Financial policies and financial activities.
Financial and Business Analysis
Pro-actively develop and execute Financial performance management processes (planning, forecasting and analysis) for Technology (Enterprise Architecture and Platform group) Ensure the integrity of reported financial results by determining that appropriate control processes are in place to support the complete and accurate reporting of results. Ensuring appropriate analytics in place, along with concise, impactful reporting, to facilitate a strong understanding of performance. Understanding and reporting on key metrics which drive financial performance. Develop financial plans and forecasts which appropriately reflect business objectives, opportunities and constraints, meet Bank standards, and act as a valuable resource for Technology leaders to manage their business. Support the delivery of an efficient, value added process for the attribution of Technology development and infrastructure costs to the Operating Groups. Ensure Bank Financial Governance standards are met. Includes support for processes and controls in place to capture cost information for the financial management of individual projects Requires developing, implementing and maintaining processes to capture and translate employee, contractor and supplier cash spend into expense and capital components and account for them appropriately Support the LFO of EA&P, the Chief Architect and Head of Enterprise Platform and his executive leaders in the ongoing management of the project portfolio against overall cash spend, resource and expense targets. Includes setting spend, resource and expense goals in conjunction with the executive areas and continually monitoring and balancing across these dimensions.
Decision and Strategic Support Build a deep understanding of the Technology businesses, along with strong relationships with Technology leaders, which positions the incumbent to be a key partner to the Technology leaders, driving the achievement of their objectives. Act as a Finance subject matter expert to support the design, development and implementation of key business initiatives and strategies. Be the focal point of contact for Technology into Finance, drawing on Finance centres of expertise as necessary to meet business needs. Establish strong working relationships with Technology leaders and their teams, with other Finance teams, and with other stakeholders to deliver high quality, effective and efficient financial support.
Risk Management, Control, and Financial Governance
Co-ordinate financial governance, compliance and attestation reporting where applicable. Provide finance specific subject matter expertise to the business/function in the assessment of the financial performance and the condition of the business/function and attestations. Review financial information for reasonableness and flag areas of interest to LFO EA&P and business/function leader to ensure results are understood and opportunities and areas of concern are properly addressed in a timely manner. Ensure financial integrity of financial plans and forecasts
Change & Innovation Support the operationalization of business/function change initiatives to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency from a finance perspective. As a member of the finance team, collaborate with finance colleagues and support changes within the finance team
Qualifications Professional accounting designation required - (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) MBA in finance preferred but not required 5-7 years of related experience in a large public company Experience supporting technology is a strong asset Highly developed communication and inter-personal skills to interact with and influence senior leadership/executives and promote change Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP, SOX and Basel financial and control requirements), financial reporting, and financial analysis. Knowledge and understanding of BMO Business Casing (IAAP) and Investment Prioritization (ESI) an advantage Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic environment The right capabilities and potential:
