Market Leading Technology business is now looking to hire a Data Scientist focused on Energy Trading for it's London based office.
This role will work closely with the wider team commercial analysts, tech platform developers, data engineers and commercial optimisation experts. The main purpose of the role is to build effective data analytics and data visualization solutions to uncover business and operational insights. This will include building effective machine learning models for a variety of predictive and forecasting purposes in the contexts of power generation, power consumption, power market price formation and physical performance of a large variety of power assets. These models will then be used to provide insight to power consumption profiles and optimisation opportunities.
It is key that as well as the technical skills you can communicate complex ideas to experts and non-experts - listening to and learning from colleagues.
The role will suit someone with strong problem solving skills who is highly curious and innovative. It will require a strong conceptual thinker, who is comfortable working with high levels of ambiguity and uncertainty. You should have a quantitative degree ideally in Maths, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operational Research.
To be considered for this role you will need to have
A Strong understanding of data science fundamentals and the underlying math of common algorithms and machine learning frameworks
Solid coding skills ideally in Python – efficient, well-documented and maintainable modules
Fluency in data wrangling, data analytics, visualization and machine learning libraries
Proven experience in effectively communicating data science solutions with stakeholders
Proven experience in best practices for data visualization and data story-telling
Proven experience in building and applying machine learning models
Experience with data pipelines and end-to-end data science solutions deployment
Strong understanding and experience in relational databases and SQL
Some degree of understanding and experience of document databases
