This exciting opportunity offers the chance to apply your risk skills and experience to implement and further develop Macquarie's Operational Risk strategy. As part of our Operational Risk team, you will focus on and oversee Macquarie's retail businesses and operations.
Supporting Banking and Financial Services (under three business divisions Personal Banking, Wealth Management and Business Banking) you will have primary exposure to and oversight of a fast-moving, technology-driven and innovative business. The role of Operational Risk is to form an independent view of Macquarie's operational risk profile and effect change in operational risk management and culture across the firm, through the continual refinement and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). It is the coordinating and central force for operational risk across the group and must have a confident view on the risk profile of all our businesses.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to all business areas working closely with senior business and Risk Management leaders across the group. As a Senior Analyst, you will be part of a team under the Retail Lead Director and support setting the appetite, providing oversight and giving insight to your aligned businesses.
Working with stakeholders including regulators, auditors and senior management, you will assist in compiling responses to requests and provide insights and advice to businesses on the best practice for design, measurement, analysis, evaluation and reporting of operational risk. Working with businesses directly, you will support the team in reviewing new product and business proposals and work through all areas of the ORMF with the business such as incidents, risk assessments and reviewing business assurance activities.
Additionally, this role includes team ownership of fraud and payments policies working with specialist fraud investigators to set the appetite of the group and draft policy adapting to the latest fraud prevention and detection measures and the latest threats mitigation strategies.
You should have experience in Operational Risk, Internal or External Audit within a dynamic international financial institution or financial services firm. Having commercial experience and an analytical mindset to make sound recommendations on operational risk issues is imperative. Being tenacious and agile, with proven ability to sustain high levels of performance in a fast-paced, output focused environment will also aid in your success.
Other requirements include, being a lateral thinker with problem solving and consulting skills, and the ability to grasp abstract concepts and complex situations. You should also enjoy working both independently and collaboratively within a global matrixed organization and possess strong communication skills.
This position requires a tertiary degree in Finance or a related area. Progress towards relevant postgraduate degrees or professional qualifications (CPA, CA, CFA) are desirable.
