Department Overview Corporate Model Risk (CMoR) is responsible for independently overseeing the management of model risk exposures (including monitoring design or coding errors and appropriate model usage) and the quality of model risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends throughout the end-to-end model lifecycle including model identification, risk ranking, development, validation, implementation, usage, and monitoring.
This position is within the Business Strategy and Operations team which helps CMoR meet its regulatory requirements related to Model Risk. The position facilitates the strategic planning and initiative management for the Model Risk Operations.
Lead cross functional/virtual teams to drive business requirements for application modernization
Work closely in developing enhancement programs based on process excellence initiatives and training schedules for new team members
Drive tasks and projects within the programs, including status, issues and risks, escalation and resolution
Understand, evaluate, and document business requirements.
Translate business requirements into specific solutions.
Provide documentation including data flow mapping for new and existing spreadsheet tools used by business for workflow management
Author SQL queries to extract data from corporate sources for validation scheduling and capacity analysis
Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting information from various data sources.
Utilize VBA in new and existing Excel-based tools to automate recurring work processes
Integrate capability in Excel-based tools to both pull and push data from/to SQL Server
Create data visualizations that communicate information effectively
Effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions.
Market Skills and Certifications
University degree in statistics, math, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis preferred.
8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the below areas
Microsoft Excel - Expert Level
Complex formula authoring, array functions, dynamic named ranges, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting.
VBA: familiar with Excel object model, authoring of procedures, user defined functions, code refactoring, and performance optimization.
Knowledgeable in best practices of spreadsheet design.
Familiar with relational databases.
Comfortable writing SQL queries utilizing aggregation functions and GROUP BY
Understand the different JOIN types.
Knowledge of data visualization best practices
PowerBI / Power Pivot
Power Query (Excel Get & Transform)
Tableau or BI tool capabilities
Strong project management skills, including ability to work to deadlines and give realistic estimates.
Strong problem solving & analytical skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to relay technical information to non-technical users.Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
