Global Data Risk Management seeks to lead ORM efforts, in collaboration with the first-line Global Data organization, by providing a holistic view of data governance risk and maturity of the firm relating to how the firm balances one of our most meaningful assets, our data.
What youre good at
Reporting to the Sr Team Manager of Operational Risk Testing of Charles Schwab, the successful candidate will assist in the building out a testing program for data governance controls/process/standards. The activities will include:
Leveraging data analytics/tools to build out a process to evaluate risk reporting data for accuracy and completeness of the information/metrics reported to risk governance committees
Work with individuals within Schwab to develop relationships and understanding of data
Collaborate with team members in the execution of testing activities related to data risk management controls/processes and confirm adherence with policies, procedures, standards, regulatory requirements and industry standard methodologies
Participate in all phases of the testing engagement which includes planning and preparation of kickoff meetings, requesting/capturing testing evidence, assisting in performing walkthroughs, detailing testing work papers, drafting reports and presenting findings and recommendations to appropriate business partners;
Work with appropriate individuals within Charles Schwab as necessary to understand the parameters of the Global Data/Data Risk management and how those methods are applied to business unit key functions and corresponding processes and activities, risks, and controls in order to review the business unit data controls and RCSAs for reasonableness;
Make recommendations for improvement and efficiencies;
What you have
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Technology or a related area of study;
3+ years of experience in audit, SOX testing and/or operational risk management;
Familiarity with data related industry best practices as well as RCSA principles, methodologies and tools;
Understanding of data governance principles and activity in a financial services environment;
Independent judgment with strong analytical, risk assessment and auditing skills;
Proficiency in risk and control data analysis, in particular, the ability to incorporate and understand mass information from a variety of sources to recommend a course of action;
Strong written and verbal communication skills with shown ability in communicating with senior staff, including executives;
Proactive along with the ability to bring projects and reporting to conclusion;
Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to develop relationships across the Firm and at all levels.
Three to Five (3-5) years of related professional experience working with data management tools such as SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau and internal systems such as IDW, Big Data Hub, Remedy, and Microsoft SQL servers.
Understanding of relational data models, SQL Joins, development of KRIs/KPIs, Levels of Detail, Data Aggregation, and other data reporting elements.
