This team supports our clients investment stewardship responsibilities by facilitating our proxy voting process, engaging with corporate issuers on governance issues, and owning and enhancing our governance principles and voting policy. The Manager will oversee day-to-day activities and operations of the team. You will be responsible for ensuring proxy voting processes are performed at the highest level, compliance and regulatory requirements are met, and managing, assessing, and coaching the performance and development of a team of associates. You will also partner with other Managers and Specialists in a continued effort to streamline processes and operations across the broader business group.
Identify, develop, and lead initiatives within the Governance and Proxy team, determining priorities and goals for the group, and building a continuous improvement mindset within the team to enhance processes locally and globally.
Lead and represent the Governance and Proxy perspective in operational responsibilities and initiatives with various key stakeholders, which may include the Investment Group, Legal and Compliance, Independent Directors, and Industry Associations.
Manage relationships with external partners, governance organisations, and industry associations either directly or through the team.
Develop a high performing team by managing, coaching and mentoring associates, including identifying and providing associates with challenging development opportunities.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships and effective communications between the Governance and Proxy Team and the ESG Team, as the teams collaborate on relevant projects and initiatives.
Partner with senior management and other key stakeholders on broader department initiatives.

5+ years of experience in governance, legal, compliance, investment operations and/or related experience; financial services or investment management industry experience required
Familiarity with proxy voting process and corporate governance is helpful, but not required; however, the ability to quickly learn in order to lead issue resolution, build credibility with key business partners and dive into critical proxy and governance topics is essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to credibly facilitate discussions cross-department and with key external stakeholders
Previous management experience or demonstrated track record of leading projects, mentoring, or leading and coordinating the work of peers is preferred
