Our purpose is to ensure we do the right thing by our customers, to build and sustain a trusting relationship with them.
The unit achieves this by focuses on the promises made to our customers across the broad and complex portfolio of Retail and Commercial Banking products. In doing so, we fulfil our mission through the ongoing prevention and detection of "the unexpected" so that the customer experiences are seamless and reliable.
We perform product analytics to detect and prevent "the unexpected" across the Retail and Commercial Bank product portfolio to drive continuous improvement and have a positive influence on the strategic change to banking systems, operations and product management.
We build continuous monitoring mechanism to proactively manage, prevent and detect product risks across the Retail and Commercial bank to drive action.
We upskill Product areas in "data analytics" to enable self-sufficiency in Product Analytics and Forensics capabilities.
We influence the ongoing evolution of Product Management and Risk Management Framework, Policy, Process and Procedure through our analytical endeavours into the "customer promise" across our product portfolio.
As a Product Owner with the Product Forensic Analytics unit, you will enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary and evolving team ('Squad') to pursue its mission, in the delivery of Product Forensic Discovery, Investigation and Operational Monitoring engagements for an overall Product Mechanic, by guiding them on 'what' work should be completed by the squad.
The Product Owner constantly prioritises engagements and tasks and the squad's backlog with the customer at the heart of their decision making.
The Product Owner also ensures that the work is strategically aligned to the unit's and broad program mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies, epic team mix and team member utilisation.
Whilst this role is not a people manager, it is a key role, galvanising the squad around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.
Additionally, you will perform Product Forensics Consulting/Analytics focused on the Retail and Commercial banking domain, you will bring extensive analytical and technical skills, business acumen and natural curiosity to enable the unit to deliver on a wide range of product investigations and analysis and support initiatives through valued insights.
What will be in your toolkit?
You will have extensive hands-on experience the data analysis and analytics, where you are proficient in handling and interacting with large, high volume and complex transactional data sets. And, you will be able to interrogate them to reveal the underlying mechanics that have been applied to the "product" leading to the observed data outcomes being investigated, with various degrees of ambiguity.
It is expected that you will bring the following:
Proficiency in data models, database design and interaction/interrogation.
Proficiency in SQL for handling large complex datasets of varying types.
Proficiency in other data processing languages including Python and R.
Proficiency in data / data analytics platforms (Teradata and/or Hadoop Hue and Cloudera Workbench).
Proficiency in data warehousing and the ETL process utilising tools such as SAS, Sqoop and/or PySpark.
Experience in the design of visualisation mechanisms and underlying toolsets (e.g. QlikSense, Power BI, and Tableau).
Experience in software engineering and being able to build solutions to solve problems (including business requirements gathering and technical design).
Experience in Human Centred Design and Hypothesis Based Thinking and/or have experience in delivering in a consultative manner.
Thereby, being able to demonstrate the above through:
Effectiveness to quickly understand the behaviour (expected/unexpected) behaviour of large data sets.
Effectiveness to translate business rules and product collateral into functional data requirements and product forensic tests.
Effectiveness to draw out insights and present outcomes for data driven decision making
Effectiveness to clearly communicate and present ideas and outcomes to technical and non-technological stakeholders.
Experience in working with Retail and Commercial banking products is advantageous. You will at least have a deep understanding of the product mechanics of one or more Retail or Commercial banking product type, or an equivalent understanding of other types of product which are highly complex, of a service/intangible nature and reliant upon multiple systems in which to operate.
Previous experience in working in analytical environments such as management consulting, customer analytics, risk analytics and / or revenue assurance is advantageous.
A number of roles are available, end position offering (if successful) will be dependent upon level of relevant experience.
