The Life Science Credit Solutions groupmanages lending/credit for a wide range of life science creditrelationships. Partners with the LifeScience Relationship Management Team in the due diligence process, dealstructuring process and for the delivery and negotiation of creditsolutions. Owns the underwriting,approval and closing process. Responsiblefor proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality andprofitability targets. Remains abreastof market, subsector and competitive trends. Engages and builds relationships with key client stakeholders to remainwell-informed, and able to respond to changing circumstances whileappropriately balancing client and SVB needs. Develops and delivers insights and points of view on loan types andcredit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors.
Manages lending/credit aspects for assigned clientrelationships and prospects.
Partners with the Relationship Management team in the duediligence and deal structuring process and to deliver and negotiate the creditsolution.
Owns the underwriting, documentation and closingprocess.
Responsible for proactive portfolio management,understanding changing risk profiles of their clients and communicating thisinformation and assessment to key stakeholders (internal and external).
Recommends and executes on appropriate steps based onchanging circumstances across a range of complex issues.
Engages with clients independently, buildingrelationships with the appropriate stakeholders, gathering information andresponding to ongoing needs.
Provides training to less experienced staff.
Ensurses that resource allocation to their portfolio andto the pipeline is appropriate.
Develops insights into loan types and sectors.
Leads due diligence, structuring, underwriting and documentationprocesses independently for all but the most complex deals.
Able to manage portfolio proactively and independently, while exercisingproper judgment on when additional guidance and engagement of others isappropriate.
Develops term sheets / deal structures and provides solid guidance andcontributions during the delivery and negotiation process with the client.
Engineers creative solutions to client needs.
Provides guidance to less experienced staff members, enabling them toshow improved efficiency and effectiveness. Able to effectively manage resources to optimize process and outcomes.
Lead the structuring, underwriting and closing of credit solutions forassigned prospects and clients.
Responsible for the process end to end on all but the most complex deals,including collaborating with Relationship Management, and engaging with clients/prospects,Credit Admin, Legal partners and other internal / external stakeholders toensure successful outcomes.
Manages resources effectively and responsible for doing this at increasingscale.
Manage assigned portfolio of borrowing relationships, maintainingdata integrity on bank systems, reviewing information, evaluating risk, andengaging with clients, building relationships with appropriatestakeholders.
Communicate internally to recommend and execute onresponses to changing situations for clients / across the portfolio broadly.
Ensures that portfolio management practices meet SVBstandards.
Engaging in team development, including collaboration and coaching ofAssociates who support the team.
Developing and demonstrating subject matter expertise within the team includingmarket, sector and competitive trends, business models, lending models andmaking the group more scalable through optimizing how we conduct business andmanage the portfolio.
5 or more years of related experience.
Excellent credit analysis and portfolio managementskills.
Good negotiation skills, communication skills and abilityto engage with clients effectively and independently.
Good knowledge and application of credit policies andrisk ratings.
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
