Department Overview Audit Services conducts audits and reports the results of our work to the Audit & Examinations Committee of the Board of Directors. Provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services delivered through a highly competent and diverse team. As a business partner, Audit helps the Company accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. The team is responsible for overseeing enterprise-wide model risk management processes and governance. These processes include Model development, implementation, use, performance monitoring, validation, governance, and reporting, as well as Model Risk Committee oversight.
About the Role
Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS) is seeking talented, experienced audit/ risk management professionals to join the team as Audit Leader (AL) to support the Audit Manager to effectively plan and execute audits. The AL Identifies and assesses key risks and controls, and develops effective test plans for engagements and/or related risk management activities with guidance and support from the Audit Manager as well as the Senior Audit Manager. The model risk auditor will contribute to WFAS internal audit team's enterprise-wide coverage of model risk and participate in testing or consulting on audits to provide subject matter knowledge or skills in accordance with WFAS policy.
Assist audit managers/auditor in charge in auditing entire model life cycle, i.e. development, validation, implementation, policies, governance, and use. Model uses include CCAR, PPNR, and CECL etc.;
Interact with various lines of business and control functions to understand relevant aspects of model development, validation, governance, and use;
Evaluate model documentation / validation reports and document results;
Conduct Internal control reviews on behalf of the corporation to identify financial risks, controls to mitigate the risks and assess the control environment of each significant business process;
Prepare high quality audit deliverables including, audit programs, working papers, drafts of audit issues, audit reports and present the results to various levels of Internal Audit leadership;
Ensure effective and efficient execution of audits in conformance with professional and departmental standards, budgets, and timelines;
Maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders responsible for modeling processes and model risk management;
Evaluate and provide appropriate solutions for complex problems;
Present audit results in an objective and unbiased manner;
Write opinions reflecting relevant facts that lead to logical conclusions and;
Escalate significant risks and loss exposures to appropriate levels of management;
Effectively coach and guide other team members through the audit process.
Market Skills and Certifications
Post-Graduation in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, operations research, physics, economics or higher in accounting, finance or business administration;
Certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CAMS, CRCM, CISA, Commissioned Bank Examiner designation, or Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage;
Understanding of model development, validation, or risk management function within the banking/credit management industry;
Experience with regulatory Capital models, Basel models, pricing models, Stress testing, and Loss forecasting models;
Audit experience at a large financial institution or public accounting firm and understanding of audit methodologies, tools that support audit processes;
Overall four to nine years of relevant experience as set out above;
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritizing skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important;
Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy;
Knowledge of model risk management concepts outlined in SR11-7 / OCC 2011-12.
