We Offer This role is a VP legal position within the Asia-Pacific legal teams responsible for (a) supporting Credit Suisse's investment banking and capital markets (IBCM) business and (b) providing country coverage support for the bank's businesses in Southeast Asia and Frontier Markets. This position will be based in Singapore and the responsibilities will be to support the IBCM business and transactions in the Asia-Pacific and to provide legal and regulatory support covering a wide range of businesses, services and projects engaged in by Credit Suisse in Southeast Asia and Frontier Markets.
Providing legal advice with respect to M&A, debt capital markets, equity capital markets and other investment banking mandates, including being primary coverage lawyer for these mandates. This includes, among other things, assistance in preparing, reviewing and negotiating engagement letters and indemnities and transaction-specific documentation (in conjunction with external counsel where relevant)
Providing assistance and advice on legal issues arising out of activities undertaken by the Asia-Pacific IBCM business
Providing assistance and advice on legal issues arising out of activities undertaken by Credit Suisse in Southeast Asia and Frontier Markets, including new business initiatives and projects
Advising, and coordinating the provision of advice, on queries relating to laws and regulations of Southeast Asia and Frontier Markets jurisdictions
Handling services provided by external counsel, and responsibility for ensuring the quality of those services
Researching and preparing reports on the latest legal and regulatory developments in jurisdictions in Southeast Asia which may impact Credit Suisse or build new business opportunities
Working closely with other lawyers in the Credit Suisse General Counsel division and compliance officers from its Chief Compliance Officer division
You Offer Qualifications/Experience:
You have experience in relevant business areas (i.e., M&A, DCM and ECM).
You have relevant experience working in a leading law firm and/or as an in-house counsel at a leading financial institution.
You have strong familiarity with the legal/regulatory regime applicable to investment banking activities in key Asia-Pacific jurisdictions; experience with US securities laws is preferred.
You should have experience working on cross-border matters involving multiple jurisdictions.
You possess strong legal and analytical skills, with good judgment and a control mind-set.
You are a dedicated learner and a strong team-player.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other teams, businesses and relevant partners - possessing clear communication and good interpersonal skills, resilient under-pressure, and able to master new materials quickly.
