Purpose: The Director, Name Screening, AML/ATF Models and Analytics is responsible for leading a team that applies sophisticated statistical techniques to enhance the name and payment screening processes for Scotiabank across all products across all countries. The Director will apply statistical, data mining and pattern analysis techniques to create new rules/logic for name screening and / or tuning of the rules in line with Scotiabank's risk appetite and policies.
Lead the application of sophisticated statistical techniques to develop and enhance name screening and payment screening rules/logic for a wide range of products across all countries in Scotiabank's global footprint
Understanding latest advances in AML analytics & predictive models, including applications Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning
Provide direction to the model development teams to scope, understand and appropriately document the models. Develop and update statistical approaches with longer term strategies to mitigate this risk and improve the model performance across products and services globally
Oversee the team in ensuring all procedures and practices are complied with regulatory and internal requirements
Lead a team of quantitative risk professionals in this area
End to end ownership of Name Screening analytics, including rule/logic development, tuning, documentation, deployment (in collaboration with IT&S) and monitoring
Frequently interface with regulators, auditors and model validation teams.
Requirements & Experience:
Statistical modeling and data science methods
Programming in statistical languages such as R, SAS. Experience with databases such as Oracle or SQL Server
AML/ATF experience or analytic knowledge
Name scanning applications such as HotScan, FircoSoft and Bridger is a must
People manager for minimum 3 years
Master's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering or mathematics preferred
