Overview of Credit Division for EMEA ("ECRO"): ECRO is a credit division responsible for corporate banking credit for non-Japanese corporates, non-Japanese FIs, and non- Japanese Sovereigns (collectively Global Corporates).
Its major functions are outlined as follows:
Assessment and management of credit risks and related risks
Assessment and management of country risks
Management of problematic assets
Monitoring, reporting and early action
Portfolio analysis and management

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To work as part of a team primarily to provide support in the annual review process for financial institutions, sovereign and supranational counterparties in EMEA in order to;
To support the ECRO FI Team, Group Head and General Managers to develop and maintain a sound portfolio within the credit appetite of the EMEA region, and in line with regulatory requirements.
To assess the credit of obligors in the FI sector and make recommendations on borrower ratings, annual reviews and transactions for decision-making by relevant senior management with discretionary authority.
Provide support to the annual credit and rating review schedule.
Monitor existing exposures to ensure credit quality is maintained.
Assess and recommend ratings on credit proposals for financial institutions, sovereigns and supranationals identifying key risk issues and policy considerations. Communicate these effectively and clearly to senior management.
Undertake ongoing monitoring and evaluation of cases under your responsibility; take an early pro-active stance to minimise the potential losses when necessary
Manage own workload fast and efficiently while not sacrificing quality, and maintain credit controls and procedures.
Keep up-to-date on the FI sector including regulatory developments, country events and current affairs.
Ensure effective written and verbal communication with all levels of management, including outside ECrO.
Experience in credit risk with a focus on FI credit analysis.
Strong knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and credit / market risk principles.
Good product knowledge covering corporate lending, derivatives and trade finance.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and relevant banking regulation.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Strong analytical skills on how to assess a FI's financial performance.
Understanding of how to assign probability of default credit ratings and LGD's.
Working knowledge of legal documentation and key credit clauses.
Education / Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent (Essential)
Relevant industry accreditation (Beneficial)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey credit arguments clearly and concisely
