This role is a hybrid between a business and financial analyst, which requires strong organizational and project management skills. The position reports to the Credit Reserve Director and is responsible for providing organizational oversight of the end-to-end quarterly CECL ("Current Expected Credit Loss") reserve reporting process. Responsibilities include liaising and coordinating across multiple departments of the Bank to ensure that the CECL reporting process adheres to the strict quarterly timelines and the reserve documentation is managed to a professional standard. This role will interact closely with the CECL modelling team, the SOX control and the finance teams of the Bank. In addition, the analyst may also be required to work with the Bank's portfolio data and the CECL platform technology support teams. As such, light knowledge of programming, database query skills and any knowledge/experience with financial control is beneficial.
Successful candidate will gain first-hand experience applying their skills to oversee Bank's credit reserve calculations, as well as to help interpret the results in a business context. Ideal candidates for this role will have 3+ years relevant consulting and/or industry and functional experience. This position requires working independently with minimum supervision under aggressive timelines in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions:
Manage delivery of CECL process in adherence with the target state operating model, and ensure governance procedures are followed. This includes adherence to timeline, liaising between multiple cross functional departments, scheduling meetings with constituents and escalate issues appropriately.
Track the quarterly execution of the CECL reserve calculation process.
Prepare and organize the CECL program documentation.
Track control framework execution and documentation. Track, manage and escalate, as appropriate, around exception thresholds/tolerances.
Provide subject matter expertise ("SME") support to represent business during the business as usual ("BAU") process.
Perform data analysis from source systems, if needed.
3+ years' experience with a financial institution, risk management consultancy/software vendor, audit firm, or national regulator.
Project management experience and strong organizational skills required, along with the ability to multitask.
Strong communication skills to effectively interface with business and technical leadership.
Knowledge and experience with credit portfolios and credit risk management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Understand, design, create process/data flows using Visio, Excel, and PPT.
Entry level or better proficiency in coding (R, SAS, SQL, VBA) and database query (SQL) a strong plus.
Experience with designing and creating Business Requirements Documents, User Acceptance Plan, End User Guides are a plus.
Entry level knowledge of the following beneficial: CECL, ECL, CCAR, and/or IFRS9.
