Indus Capital is seeking a Business Development Director to join the Client Advisory Group. This individual will be responsible for working closely with the partners in the group on designing and executing on the firm's capital raising initiatives across multiple investment strategies. The role will be based in Indus’ NY office.
Identify, qualify and develop relationships with prospective investors.Important to know how to prospect the target client base - network, follow-up on leads and referrals, set up calls and meetings to establish and maintain a dialogue/relationship with prospective clients
Work closely with the head of the group to split domestic investor coverage
Support the Partners with the build-up, implementation and maintenance of the company's global business development strategy including but not limited to investor materials, client meetings, conferences, seminars, client events and other strategies
Maintain database record of all client contact
Perform special marketing projects on an ad-hoc basis
5+ years of financial services industry experience, preference given to candidates with sales and trading, capital introductions and/or hedge fund sales experience. Extensive fundraising experience from a hedge fund or private equity is a plus. Strong rolodex with investors is a plus although not required
Strong interest in alternative investments and capital markets. Passion for equity markets and intellectual curiosity are extremely important. Ability to understand Asian markets/stocks is a plus but not required
BS/BA degreefrom top institution, CAIA/CFA designation a plus
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; with the ability to translate investment strategies into easy to understand concepts
Strong organizational skills
Highly motivated and ability to work independently but at the same time be a team player and work well with the rest of the team on helping out with client requests, sharing client and market intel etc.
Ability to conceptualize and execute on a marketing plan
Ability to travel frequently to support the fundraising process
