Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Regional Control Manager .
Act as trusted advisor for the senior management of the supported Risk Functions on how to properly manage their operational risk and all items related such as Risk assessments, Control environment, issues management.
Support the regional CCO in implementation of Non Financial Risk Management Framework and related transformation.
Provide Risk Function or Regional Senior Management with key metrics and data that will give visibility on risks and control environment and allow them to identify emerging and current issues that require management and attention.
Provide Risk Function or Regional Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.
Ensure Risk Function, Region remains aligned to any applicable framework or regulatory control environment requirements for example SOX, IFRS.
Drive the remediation of all relevant Risk Function or Regional audit actions, regulatory issues and any other issues whether identified by management, CCO activity or Risk Steward reviews.
Support all relevant Risk Function or Regional audit and risk related regulatory engagement.
Drive consistency in the management of operational risk across the Risk Function or Region.
Provide SME expertise to Control Owners to drive effective design of material operational controls and work with them to design an efficient balance of key measures, activities and tools to ensure continuous monitoring of control effectiveness as well as implementing effective remediation plans when necessary.
Ensure risk and control standards considered and incorporated in initial design of new processes.
Use line of sight across the functions, engagement with business lines and Regulators to identify emerging risks or threats to explore further and raise to relevant regional managers
An undergraduate or post graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Information Systems or related field
Previous experience in Risk Management within a global organization
Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely to key stakeholders, senior management using simple language and accommodating globally distributed stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of the external environment including risk, regulatory, political, competitors etc.
Sound relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills with experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior executives across multiple functions.
Competent decision maker, making considered and timely decisions, particularly when under high pressures.
Risk and Control subject matter expertise.
Ability to identify, assess and communicate the need for risk management intervention in complex, fast paced environments.
Project management skills with proven experience of transformation implementation.
Data analytical skills with experience of managing high volume of data and comprehending analytical codes.
High level of drive and self motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously in a matrix environment.
Ability to use initiative to resolve issues, whilst dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders and team members, distributed across functions and locations.
Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships across a globally distributed matrix organization.
