Market Job Description
Assist in the coverage and relationship management of a designated group of bank and non-bank financial institutions based in Hong Kong and Macau.
Focuses on structuring and executing transactions and supports more senior staff with financial/credit analysis for financial institution (bank and non-bank) customers.
Duties shall include representing the bank in developing and maintaining client relationships; actively participating in the completion of transactions for the most important/strategic clients.
Responsible for growing and maintaining a portfolio of profitable clients in assigned market through pro-active, strategic and consistent business development, client retention, and prospecting efforts.
Shall be able to help cover the Head of FIG Hong Kong in his absence.
Under the CIB (Corporate and Investment Banking) model, effectively partners with other departments including but not limited to Wells Fargo Securities and WF Asset Management to ensure that client issues/problems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
Perform analysis of the client's situation, including risks, challenges and potential opportunities.
Responsible for developing presentation and pitch materials for client meetings and internal discussions.
Shall take ownership of and lead follow-up items after client meetings/calls to ensure that business momentum is maintained and promised deliverables are achieved. Sees items through to resolution to support broader deal team/organization.
Shall provide coaching to junior members within the team.
Compliance Risk Management
Commit to a culture which firmly establishes compliance risk management as a discipline critical to our success and the success of our customers.
Ensure compliance with Know-Your-Client (KYC) documentation and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures in order to effectively mitigate and manage risk.
Collaborate extensively with Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Compliance, APAC Compliance and the FIG Relationship Management Support Team.
Ensure compliance with WF expenses policies and procedures including Global Anti-Corruption policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations in Hong Kong.
Credit Risk Management
Oversee the credit risk associated with assigned relationships; review and endorse credit requests; oversee the effective management of counterparty limits and use market intelligence to capitalize on opportunities and avoid pitfalls in managing bank and country risk.
Review and interpret credit policies and procedures and incorporating requirements into credit analysis, observations and lending recommendations.
In support of more senior staff, performs or guides credit underwriting work of more junior staff in accounting for all risk factors and providing risk rating recommendations.
Market Skills and Certifications
University degree (or equivalent) and professionally qualified accountant
Work experience in the banking industry of 8 years or above, of which 5 years should be related to financial institutions
Apart from correspondent banking products, having knowledge or experience in investment banking products like debt capital markets, asset managements, derivatives will be a clear advantage
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong knowledge/experience in compliance and regulations. Sound understanding of compliance and risk policy, especially KYC and AML risk.
Highly self-motivated and be able to pro-actively initiate new ideas to generate businesses
Be able to work independently whilst providing positive collaboration within a fast paced environment
Fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese (oral, reading and writing)
