Description As a Commodity Research Associate, the successful candidate will work closely with BMO's Commodity Analyst in providing insights and research on numerous commodities across Metals and Mining. The work environment involves collaboration, co-ordination and a shared knowledge base with the analyst and rest of the Metals and Mining team. The associate role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the "right fit". Tasks include: - Creation and maintenance of detailed supply/demand models - Analysis of macroeconomic events to generate supply/demand forecasts - Writing of research reports and comments - Examination of industry databases and publications - Completion of extraordinary information and data requests - Communication of recommendations to internal and external clients
Experience/Skills A combination of technical knowledge and skills in Economics and Commodities demonstrated through relevant work experience is required. Prior experience in Metals and Mining commodities is preferred. Candidates with a proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career will be prioritized. Other necessary attributes include: - A keen and demonstrable interest in Commodities Research - Superior verbal communication skills and very strong writing skills - Intellectual curiosity, the ability to learn quickly, and strong attention to detail - Superior work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently - Ability to systematically manage a heavy work load and meet stringent deadlines - Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours - Strong technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg - A solid understanding of geography
