Front Office Convertible Bonds Technology, Software Engineer

The Convertible Bonds Technology Group is an agile team responsible for developing software that enables the business to sustain and grow. This area sits between Equities Derivatives and Credit but has Rates and optionality, offering a unique business exposure. Working directly with front office traders and sales, quants, along with operations groups it will provide direct business interactions with the front office users. The system itself provides not only trading and execution functions, but also order management, pricing, modelling and other trading activities making it a very interesting area to work within technology.
We are looking to hire a new software engineer to join our APAC and global teams, working across the Java back end and possibly also the front end C# stack to help build out eTrading, RFQ workflow, GUI engineering and BAU tasks. We are currently embarking on a re-engineering programme which will include a Java services shifting to the cloud, with UI components moving to HTML5 also on the cloud.
Able to cover the full SDLC/application lifecycle including designing and developing functionality for new and existing parts of the system.
Work directly with front office users to gather requirements, and transform them into solutions and help build relationships with the end users
Be responsible for following SDLC principles, unit testing, regression testing along with focusing on increasing CIT
Manage working with the L1 operate and release management teams and provide L3 support where necessary
Work on complex problems and challenges that require excellent problem solving capabilities
Collaborate closely with the global team in order to deliver the wider agenda
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:· BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices

Proficiency in Java and/or C# is a must. Solid knowledge in Spring, Unix, Unit testing, mocking frameworks, continuous integration. Messaging i.e. MQ/TibRV/Kafka/Other
Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement
Data structures, design patterns and collections
Experience working with concurrency, multi-threaded, multi process environment
Independently able to deliver changes, but also collaborate in a team environment and on joint projects. Preferably with the ability to lead global streams, involving other engineers in APAC, EMEA and NA
Business interest (no previous financial services knowledge required, but must have an interest to work in financial markets especially with front office/trading users)
Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Other), WPF, HTML5/react.js are nice to have
