Technology & Operations
The Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS): Alternatives Operations supports BlackRock Alternative Investments (BAI) and over $110B of assets globally. BAI takes a dynamic approach to alternative investments, building investment vehicles that increasingly capitalize on evolving opportunities in fast-changing markets. Our alternative investment capabilities are fully integrated into BlackRock, allowing investment teams to capitalize on the firm's considerable resources in areas such as risk management, product development, client service and operational support.
The purpose of the GAAPS Alts Team is to act as the interface between the funds' investment professionals, investors, and external contacts, such as accounting outsource providers, auditors, tax professionals, and third party distributors, etc. for BlackRock's alternative funds platform. We are looking for an Analyst who will focus on adding value by resolving issues and providing product oversight and coordination of Administrators for many of our funds, which can invest in private investments.
Provide operational and accounting support for all investments within the Alternatives platform. Assist in developing and improving operating models to address support of manual or unusual aspects of new alternative products and investments;
Provide operational support for complex products or investment types, which includes reconciling data received from third parties and coordinating input of data into internal systems;
Coordinate external and internal administration and accounting for certain mandates, including investment valuation, data management, and asset and cash reconciliations;
Authorize and facilitate cash transfers
Calculate Management and Incentive Fees in accordance with legal documentation
Ensure trade, valuation and cash flow information is updated timely and accurately in internal systems
Lead credit facility arrangements including debt compliance monitoring
Assist with preparation and review of client reporting and ensure deliverable deadlines are met
Work with external service providers, internal team members and other BlackRock groups to resolve operational issues, as identified
Review cash flows to determine capital amounts needed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2-4 years or equivalent experience;
A diverse knowledge of alternative investment products, including single manager hedge funds, structured products, and complex capital and investment structures
Ensure an outstanding control environment exists internally in an oversight capacity
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral);
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, emphasis on Excel.
Ability to prioritize and juggle workload, strong analytical/problem solving skills w/ attention to detail.
Excellent time & project management skills; always needs to be aware of deadlines and effectively plan to ensure that all are met and suggest improvements.
Strong skills and experience in data management and ability to work in a team environment
Ability to evaluate multiple processes and develop a plan to migrate those processes to India with minimal disruption to services
High degree of comfort with technology is required. SQL proficiency and Investran experience (a plus)
