The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) introduced regulation in the Collective Investment Schemes sourcebook (COLL) that requires UK Authorised Fund Managers (AFMs) to conduct an annual assessment of the value that is provided to investors in its funds.
The purpose of the Product Strategy Analyst is to co-ordinate all inputs across the wider business to support the Value Assessment of funds required by COLL. The analyst will undertake analysis for each of the criteria that are to be assessed and will support the writing and production of Value Assessment reports to the AFM Board (MGSL) and to unitholders.
Wider strategic analysis on industry dynamics or competitors may be required as a result of the outputs from the Value Assessment.
The Product Strategy Analyst will work in the Product Development and Management Team reporting to the Head of Product Strategy.
Undertake or work with other departments to create and co-ordinate the analysis required for Value Assessment for each of the criteria being assessed . The criteria are: - Quality of Service - Performance - Authorised Fund Manager Costs - Economies of Scale - Comparable Market Rates - Comparable Services - Classes of Units
Produce analysis for and take part in forums to interpret the analysis and assess the value provided to unitholders and other wider strategic projects
Draft the Value Assessments for each investor type fund for the AFM Board and for unitholders
Make proactive suggestions in the evolution of the approach and processes to assess value
Facilitate the continued provision of data and analysis from other M&G functions or from external parties that are required for the Value Assessment and other strategic projects
Managing changes to funds or the way in which funds are managed and serviced in response to concerns raised by the Value Assessment, working closely with product development and management
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry views on Value Assessment
Develop and maintain desktop-based tools that analyse relevant data
Participate in other product strategy related projects as required
You will have:
UK regulation, fund structures and types
The services and functions required to support running collective investment schemes
A good understanding of UK distribution
Fund accounting and operations especially in the UK
Business structures and management required to manage multiple funds and especially of M&G funds and its business organisation
A good understanding of the asset management industry and its business functions
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to collate, summarise and interpret data (including statistical and graphing skills)
Ability to represent the data, and summaries thereof, in formats that others can interpret
In-depth ability to use desktop tools especially Excel (including VBA), PowerPoint and Word
Excellent writing skills
