JobDescription : Job Description The Role: Research Assistant The Location: Dallas, TX or Centennial, CO The Team: S&P Global Ratings is seeking a Research Assistant to join its Structured Finance practice as part of the Modeling and Analytics team. The practice provides credit ratings of structured products that are backed by pools of assets, which may include auto loans & leases, student loans, personal loans and credit card receivables. The Impact: The Research Assistant will support senior analysts by building financial models and conducting cash flow analyses to determine the credit impact of various economic scenarios. The Research Assistant will work primarily on North American assignments. Gain knowledge of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis of asset-backed securities.
Create cash flow models for various ABS transactions across the U.S. and Canada.
Perform cash flow analysis and synthesize results in a timely manner for new issue ratings and surveillance committees.
Read legal and operating documents and extract relevant information for cash flow and structure analysis.
Prepare presentation materials for ratings committees.
Respond to questions from internal parties on analytical assignments and may participate in calls with external parties.
Maintain model libraries and databases for ratings surveillance.
What We're Looking For: Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a quantitative discipline (3.3 GPA or higher) such as finance, computer science, economics or engineering.
Internship experience. One to two years of full-time experience is a plus.
Proficiency with Excel & VBA and financial data.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team.
Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, R or Java) is a plus.
