The incumbent is responsible for executing the credit strategy and managing the product design, underwriting and review and other functions of the Wealth Management Life Insurance Premium Finance Lending team. Responsibilities include: working in partnership with Private Bankers to develop new loan opportunities, providing thought leadership on the lending product, ensuring that loans are underwritten in accordance with credit policies and procedures, maintaining service standards and continuously striving to meet client objectives to grow a portfolio of high quality life insurance premium loans. Incumbent will manage a book of business and will provide independent and objective analysis and monitoring of credit quality for the life insurance premium loan portfolio. He/She will assess adherence to and, as appropriate, develop policies and procedures to minimize losses and will complete high quality underwriting documents on a timely basis, determine credit risk and mitigate and assign credit risk ratings. Performs analysis where appropriate to proactively evaluate the future performance of a borrower or prospect and collateral for the loan. Assists Wealth Management relationship managers with marketing and identifying strong lending prospects. Meets with clients to determine credit needs and to evaluate proposed collateral and other transaction risks, structures proposed lending solution, prepares and presents term sheets, directs document preparation and leads negotiations, and will advise client on product selection and assist with loan approval and closing processes. Travel is required.
Qualifications The qualified candidate will have a BS/BA degree in business or equivalent experience with 10+ years of relevant lending experience and at least 3 years life insurance premium finance experience, as well as experience in managing or directing a team of professionals. An MBA is a plus. Completion of a disciplined bank credit training program (or equivalent work experience), along with specialized knowledge of complex products/businesses as required by the segment of business assignment is required. Must be knowledgeable about and adhere to all regulations impacting the business. Must have excellent communication skills, as well as knowledge of/experience in the use of relevant computer software.
