The Solution Architect is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of a technology roadmap that is aligned with business needs, reflects best practices and increases option value for the organization. The role is responsible for maintaining enterprise architecture models and associated design components. The position is required to interpret, use and apply their knowledge and expertise in IT architecture to inform a range of technology-driven business improvement activities. The Solution Architect is expected to ensure that the overall IT architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its extensibility, security and quality. The Solution Architect will ensure that the respective business, application, data and technology perspectives are in line with the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies and standards. The role is expected to provide technology thought leadership addressing complex project issues by facilitating alignment across disparate teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
Define Enterprise Architecture strategies, principles, vision, standards, tools and methodologies.
Work with Business and IT leaders to define strategic and tactical requirements of the organization to fulfill business needs.
Develop/enhance Technology roadmap for the organization.
Analyze and provide recommendations for Data architecture by creating/updating data models for key business entities, and documenting reference and master data requirements, providing guidance on data quality with respect to accuracy, currency and usage and provide recommendations related to data security, retention and archival.
Must be able to understand and communicate requirements of any future infrastructure needs, working with other IT architects (in-house, partners and vendors) to develop an approach that fits the current and planned needs of the organization.
Understand current enterprise application integration capabilities including the use of services-based frameworks and other data integration technologies and strive for continuous improvement.
SKILLS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have at least an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Grad school experience in Computer Science, MIS is a plus.
Strong experience with architecting solutions using Cloud enabled technologies for building scalable, extensible, loosely coupled but tightly integrated applications is a must.
Experience or exposure to Enterprise Integration patterns is required.
Software design and development experience with object-oriented languages is required.
Exposure to building web-enabled applications is a plus.
Strong experience with data integration and analytics technologies
Experience of delivering event driven architectures
Strong experience with Big Data concepts and patterns is a plus. Must have adequate knowledge of relational and dimensional modeling.
Must have used Enterprise grade UML modeling tools such as SparxSystems EA or Embarcadero ER/Studio is a must.
