This senior level role will manage a team of Issues Coordinators that will be responsible for centralizing the oversight, reporting and validation of all 1LOD and 2LOD assigned issues. This role is responsible for providing effective oversight of the Bank's Issues Management Policy from vetting potential issues to issue entry into the Archer system to monitoring progress made toward issue resolution culminating in the validation of each issue upon completion to support closure per management assertion. This role is a key oversight role within the Bank to ensure timely resolution of issues to mitigate all categories of risk. This role will be responsible for communicating issue trends to executive and senior leaders throughout the Bank and the Board via direct interaction and through the risk committee structure. The role is critical to managing issues by ensuring business lines and second line of defense partners accomplish their resolution plans satisfactorily. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison between issue sources and the business lines/second lines of defense to ensure timely completion of issue resolution and demonstrate sustainability of controls to protect against repeat issues. The emphasis for this senior level role is successful closure of open issues within established time frames and without repeat incidence.
Provides senior level thought leadership on issues management and validation through appropriate risk mitigation techniques.
Develop strategic oversight of issues management throughout the Bank.
Apprises Bank executive, senior and front-line management of current issues and trends.
Assists Exam Management Manager with responses to issues raised by regulators and internal auditors to ensure milestones are appropriately considered, control additions/adjustments are commensurate with the risk, and timelines are appropriate to achieve desired sustainable results.
Assist with the creation and implementation of the Bank's Issues Management Communication Protocol.
Facilitate regular meetings with issue sources to ensure open communication and transparency on issue status.
Ensure Archer fields are appropriate and adequate to address reporting in accordance with risk taxonomy and root cause analysis.
Provide reporting to all relevant Tier I, II, and III risk committees of all emerging issue trends identified by regulators and internal audit.
Ensure appropriate Board level reporting of all Bank issues trends and status.
Manages team of high performers in providing oversight of 1LOD and 2LOD issues management.
Maintains the Bank's Issues Management Policy.
Bachelor's degree in Business-related field required; relevant graduate degree preferred.
10+ years of financial services industry experience with a minimum of 5 years in a role directly interacting with senior executives and/or business line leaders.
5 or more years of demonstrated ability to lead business lines in accomplishing positive outcomes and experience managing a team of high performers.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with executive and senior level management to influence decisions and promote successful issue resolutions.
Experience with the most complex issues experienced by mid-sized banking institutions.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
Strong dedication to ethics and integrity and demonstrated ability to produce high quality results and meet deadlines despite competing priorities.
Specific knowledge of risk management frameworks, audit risk assessments, corporate governance, process improvement, project management, bank operations, products and services, and/or regulatory environment and expectations preferred.
Preferred prior experience in Centralized Issues Tracking and RSA Archer.
