The Role Responsibilities
Be aware of and understand the DCM and broader FM strategy for UK clients
Responsively provide the best advice and recommendations to our clients with a view to growing our DCM dialogue and business
Originate and execute debt capital markets transactions
Maintain and grow the dialogue with third party clients of SCB
Responsible for structuring and execution of DCM transactions and programmes
Aid credit distribution team where appropriate
Draft regular market updates to clients
Provide analysis and insight into capital, liquidity and ratings agency developments in the region
Ensure communication with other teams within capital markets as well as Global Banking, FM sales Legal and Compliance
Assist the broader team in delivering a high standard / quality of analysis and ideas to clients
Build and develop client relationships and work with colleagues in Global Banking to originate deal opportunities
Take primary origination responsibility for a portfolio of and demonstrate growth in the dialogue and business with that portfolio
Draft and negotiate offer documents, mandate letters and term sheets
Work to the highest standards in terms of complying with applicable regulations and ethical standards
Take responsibility to ensure that the full range of internal approvals are undertaken for transactions
Work with GAMs and other units to identify and screen transaction opportunities and to educate the GAMs in the products we offer
Regularly monitor market developments and industry developments in trade publications, rating agency reports, general news sources to update clients and maintain business awareness
Cross-sell SCB's products. Identify where better opportunities would exist for the client from another product rather than DCM
Prudently manage expenses
Production of market update and pitch materials
Lead the process in providing regular pricing updates to our clients
Work with third parties and internal partner groups on execution of transactions and programmes
Finalize checklists and make sure all transaction precedents and requirements are in place
Updating internal MIS and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and processes
People and Talent
Be a collaborative member of the broad capital markets team
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
Assist in the development of junior talent in the DCM team
Demonstrate an awareness of the risks associated with the group and clients
Manage control room and private information flow and ensure that appropriate records are maintained
Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
Willingness to 'speak up' in the event of any realised or perceived breach of group conduct rules or laws by colleagues
Willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
