The Asset Management Division of Northern Trust is global leader in multi-asset class solutions with expertise in index, active, quantitative and cash& liquidity capabilities. As well as strong knowledge of sustainable trends and strategies The EMEA Fixed Income Portfoio Management Desk is looking to hire a Short Duration Portfolio Manager. The successful candidate will join as a member of the Fixed Income Portfolio Management team and play an important role in the creation of portfolio strategy, construction and trading.
Assists in the development of portfolio strategies through evaluation of the fixed income market, shape of the yield curve, yield spreads, rating changes, and supply/demand factors.
Plans overall portfolio structure utilizing security analytical information, economic factors, and fixed income market conditions in conjunction with the fund's investment objectives.
Implements portfolio strategy through security selection, sector allocation and duration decisions
Executes portfolio strategy through efficient and effective direct trading
Daily monitoring of portfolio risk with respect to alignment with active investment views and consistency with fund objectives
Facilitate responses to client requests for information on markets, portfolio positioning and other ad-hoc requests
Actively participate in EMEA and global strategy meetings providing insightful market knowledge and ideas
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES The candidate should be highly motivated and possess extensive analytical skills and evidence of ability to master portfolio management skills.
Experience years in fixed income or other highly analytical financial role desirable
Working knowledge of portfolio theory and construction preferred
Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask, and prioritize effectively while maintaining a high quality of work
Operate in a fast paced and demanding environment
Extensive experience in Excel. Macro and VBA skills a plus
Working knowledge of MarketAxess, Tradeweb, Bloomberg preferred
