Job Description Summary Here at Lloyds Banking Group, we are recruiting an Assistant Tax Manager (VAT) role.

You'll be joining Group Tax, who manage a wide range of tax payment, deduction and reporting obligations both for the Group's own account and also for its customers and colleagues.
These obligations involve ensuring that the Group is in full compliance with all of it's statutory obligations, the Banking Code of Practice and that our tax costs are managed within the Group's risk appetite.
What will you be doing?
Within the VAT assurance team, part of wider VAT team, you'll be providing a professional level of support to Senior Tax colleagues and business customers, in respect of managing the Group's VAT obligations. This'll include producing high quality VAT reporting, reconciliations and assurance across the group. You'll be interacting with people at all levels, investigating and resolving any issues as they arise or escalating more complex queries as needed.
Your accountabilities will also include:
Deliver small-scale projects or well defined tasks on larger projects to improve support to the business
Monitor and support a range of VAT processes and systems to ensure that they are effectively maintained and coordinated, including VAT reconciliations, VAT reporting from SAP and detailed spreadsheet work
Recommending improvements to processes and controls
Manage day to day VAT queries from the business
Establish and build internal relationships to identify business requirements and provide appropriate support and guidance
Demonstrate core Lloyds Banking Group values and behaviours as an active team member
What can you bring to the role?
It's essential that you:
Have solid, demonstrable VAT experience, gained within a large organisation
Are able to interpret and respond to complex VAT process queries
Can demonstrate a good understanding of accounting principles
Have excellent PC Skills, including a good working knowledge of Excel.
And desirable that you have:
Undertaken a similar role within the utilities, financial or professional services industry.
Your communication and interpersonal skills are well-developed and you're adept at liaising with stakeholders at all levels. You're able to present written work to an excellent level, with attention to detail and accuracy. Accustomed to working under limited supervision, you're able to plan and organise your own workload effectively and have excellent prioritisation skills.
And whilst you may have already completed your professional qualifications, this isn't a requirement. In fact, if you have the skills we're looking for and are yet to start your exams, we can support you in studying for them. What is essential is your technical capability, including strong analytical aptitude.
